When a new Pixar movie makes its debut in theaters or on Disney+ — especially these days, since Pixar has released recent failures like Lightyear and Turning Red — movie enthusiasts always sit up and take notice.
The new movie Elemental, a story about a fire element and a water element who fall in love (amidst the fire element’s struggles as a member of a marginalized immigrant family), has most certainly had Pixar fans all abuzz.
“Second Worst” Pixar Movie?
The film’s status as the “second worst Pixar opening” at the box office has been one of the main talking points when it comes to the story of Ember and Wade in Element City.
Is Elemental’s Luck Changing?
Fortunately, however, Elemental‘s luck seems to be changing! In its second weekend of opening, Elemental did not drop as low as expected in its box office performance. A drastic drop after the opening weekend is normal, but Elemental only decreased by 39% at the box office.
This suggests that Disney and Pixar fans — not to mention moviegoers who enjoy animated films or love stories, even if they don’t specifically seek out Disney or Pixar films — have been keeping an eye on reviews from opening weekend and have subsequently been convinced to give the film a try.
Since we did recommend the movie here at Disney Fanatic, mainly due to just one factor in its storyline, the reasoning behind this mild downgrade in box office performance seems plausible!
Are Pixar Fans Reconsidering?
Are you going to give Elemental a try, especially since the voice-acting performances and this one game-changing plot point will most likely make it worthwhile?
If you’re an Up fan, you’ll be in for a treat while seeing the new Pixar film in theaters, as well; just be sure to hurry up at the concession stand so that you don’t miss the tear-jerking surprise that features Carl and his faithful canine Dug!
