With every change that comes to the Walt Disney World Resort, guests lose some of the original parks. Slowly, Disney has eliminated most of the opening day attractions across its parks, but a few remain.
At the Magic Kingdom, “it’s a small world,” The Jungle Cruise, the Haunted Mansion, the Hall of Presidents, and the Mad Tea Party remain. However, Disney shut down the Country Bear Jamboree this year to replace it with a new show, forever changing another opening day attraction.

Disney World’s second park, EPCOT, has seen a series of significant transformations, including the never-ending construction project that has revamped the entire park.
At EPCOT, only five opening-day attractions remain, and one of those attractions seems to be on its way out, as Dinsey has slimmed its hours of operation down to a mere 135 minutes throughout the day.
Located in the France Pavilion at EPCOT, Impressions de France is a ground-breaking piece of cinema. But now it is only available to the public at EPCOT from 9-9:30 a.m. and 7-8:45 p.m.
Disney World’s website describes Impressions de France as:
Be transported to another time and place, a land of princesses and enchanted castles, as the Loire Valley and its magnificent chateaux appear in a stunning 200-degree widescreen view. On your virtual journey, ride along with horsemen and hunting dogs in the Cheverny Forest, reflect on the Hall of Mirrors at Versailles, visit a bustling marketplace in Normandy and see vintners and cognac makers at work. Watch Bugattis racing in Cannes, hot-air balloons floating along the Loire and celebrate Bastille Day in grand Gallic fashion as you listen to an emotional soundtrack by French composers like Claude Debussy, Maurice Ravel and Paul Dukas. Their joie de vivre leaves an indelible impression!
Impression de France was filmed using a revolutionary technique for the time. According to Frommers, a 500-pound camera was strapped to the bottom of a helicopter to get the breathtaking shots that make up the film. Only four minutes of film could be shot at one time, and then it would have to be reloaded, which took another 30 minutes.
The show availability has been shortened to make room for the Beauty and the Beast sing-along, which attracts more families to the pavilion, especially with the addition of Remy’s Ratatouille Adventure.
Canada and China are the only other countries in the World Showcase with films that help educate guests on their countries’ beauty, but it appears that France is about to lose its opening day attraction.
So, get to World Showcase now before it’s gone forever.
