While many Walt Disney World experiences have been making a return after COVID closures, one restaurant in the heart of EPCOT’s World Showcase has seemingly had its replacement revealed.
We’ve recently seen the return of favorite dining experiences such as the return of Hoop-Dee-Doo Musical Revue and select character dining experiences. Sadly, we’ve also seen some Disney experiences meet the chopping block, including Spirit of Aloha and ESPN Club.
It looks like Restaurant Marrakesh in EPCOT’s Morocco Pavilion is one we’ll be adding to the list of goodbyes! Restaurant Marrakesh was a place to savor the Moroccan cuisine and enjoy sprightly belly dancing while dining.
On a recent visit to EPCOT’s Morocco Pavilion, @ExpThemePark took to social media to note, “Inside Restaurant Marrakesh for the first time in forever. It is going to become the future home of the Florida Blue Medicare Lounge.”
The sign in the tweet notes, “Future Home of the Florida Blue Medicare Lounge. 1) Swing by for a little rest and relaxation! 2) Enjoy light refreshments & selected entertainment like complimentary henna tattoos and more. 3) Get VIP seating during Eat to the Beat Concert Series. Opening on September 3rd Daily noon – 6 pm.”
@ExpThemePark further notes in the comments, “It will be open to everyone as a place to sit down, charge their phone and relax.”
Restaurant Marrakesh was never an extremely popular restaurant. Typically, it was an easy one to snag a last-minute dining reservation. When we did dine there, it was never very busy, with only a few Guests dining and enjoying the entertainment.
Remembering back to 2020, Disney assumed full operations of the Morocco Pavilion in a mutual agreement with the Kingdom of Morocco, which designed and operated the EPCOT Pavilion until two years ago. Not only is now this Moroccan Restaurant seemingly changing, but we also saw changes to Spice Road Table’s menu and offerings.
And while Walt Disney World Resort’s website still has Restaurant Marrakesh listed as “Temporarily Unavailable,” this new Florida Blue Medicare Lounge seems to be moving in on September 3, 2022. Craving Moroccan food? Check out the delicious quick-service restaurant, Tangierine Café in the Pavilion.
