A thrilling ride at Disney’s Animal Kingdom Theme Park recently turned into a test of patience for several guests who were stuck more than 80 feet in the air. Expedition Everest – Legend of the Forbidden Mountain, known for its forward and backward drops, experienced an unknown technical issue, forcing guests to evacuate the roller coaster and climb down emergency stairs.
Expedition Everest has been a staple of Disney’s Animal Kingdom Theme Park since its debut in 2006, drawing crowds with its thrills and iconic Yeti animatronic. However, few Walt Disney World Resort guests have seen the Asia attraction in its original form.
Months after Expedition Everest – Legend of the Forbidden Mountain opened, Walt Disney Imagineers discovered that the heavy, lunging Yeti animatronic was damaging its own concrete base. They rendered the figure motionless and added a strobe light to simulate movement, inspiring Disney Parks fans to nickname the effect “Disco Yeti.
However, the most recent issue had nothing to do with the Yeti. TikTok user @eyevvv6 shared a video of the incident, which shows several riders stuck at the top of Expedition Everest. The Disney Park guest described it as their “biggest fear unlocked.”

The ride halted for more than 30 minutes before Disney cast members arrived to help guests out of their safety restraints and climb down the emergency exit stairs, which extend 80 feet from the top of the ride.
Walt Disney World Resort has not made any public statements regarding the cause of the malfunction, which isn’t unusual. Like most Disney attractions, Expedition Everest is prone to occasional technical issues, but the ride resumed regular operation shortly after Tuesday’s delay was cleared. Guests can always check up-to-date attraction information on the My Disney Experience app.

Yup, Spaceship Earth, Frozen & Haunted Mansion, all in the same day. Was interesting. No major issues, no one complained.
In the many Moons[50+] that I have been going to Disney Parks, I have never gotten stuck on one, cross the old fingers.
