Experts prepared their usual predictions for the business world in 2024, and they had some interesting insights about Disney and its long-standing CEO.
For years now, Bob Iger has been a name that many relate very strongly to the Walt Disney Company. He has been at the helm of one of the most influential entertainment conglomerates in the world for fifteen years and counting, with a brief break in between.
It’s clear that the board considers Mr. Iger the right man to lead Disney at the moment. However, some analysts believe that opinion isn’t changing anytime soon.

Experts Say Bob Iger Will Stay on Past Contract End… Again
A CNBC report shared a few predictions for the upcoming year, and among them, one analyst shared that, in their opinion, Disney CEO Bob Iger would not be leaving his position anytime soon, contrary to what he has said before.
The report explained, “This executive predicted, “fool me five times, shame on me.” Disney has many strategic problems that don’t have easy answers, such as figuring out how ESPN’s business fits in a direct-to-consumer world and how to wind down its legacy TV cable networks. Those problems demand a leader with a steady hand who understands the industry.”
Bob Iger has said time and again that he will leave and has somehow found a reason to stay on each time. Is 2026 really going to be any different? Only time will tell.

The Question of Bob Iger’s Successor
However, let’s say Bob Iger does leave. Who might he possibly announce as his successor then?
Earlier this year, CNBC analysts reported that “Iger plans to name a successor in early 2025 and give that person about 20 months to prepare for the role.”
So, if it turns out that Mr. Iger does choose to step aside for someone else, who might that be? While there has been much speculation about who will succeed Disney CEO Bob Iger, experts believe he’s going to name Dana Walden as his successor.
They added, “Iger will again move to a chairman role when Walden takes over as CEO, just as he did with Bob Chapek in 2020.”

However, another expert predicted a different name: Andrew Wilson, the CEO of Electronic Arts.
While this name may seem out of left field, CNBC clarified that the executive who mentioned it might be Wilson correctly predicted Mr. Iger would return as Disney’s CEO in 2022.
Of course, all these predictions are fun to wonder about, and it will certainly be interesting to see which of them comes to pass as the months go on.
