After being shuttered for several years, Disney Parks is finally bringing back its beloved in-Park transportation system: The Red Car Trolley at Disney California Adventure.
Installed with the rest of Buena Vista Street, the Red Car Trolley took Disneyland Guests to and from a station near the Theme Park Entrance and the Hollywood Tower Hotel. A scaled model version of the real Red Car found in Southern California decades ago, the trolly is–in this reporter’s opinion–one of the most significant things missing on the Hollywood Boulevard and Sunset Boulevard sections of Disney’s Hollywood Studios at the Walt Disney World Resort (but I digress).

Shuttered due to covid-inspired restrictions, the Red Car became a glorified set piece. Its return was shared on Twitter by Theme Park Reporter Scott Gustin who shared a picture and tweeted:
“NEW: The Red Car Trolley will return to Disney California Adventure this summer.”

Disneyland and Disney World both offer modes of transportation that are often looked upon as attractions themselves, and the streetcar is one of the last examples to resume operations. It follows the return of both Disneyland and Walt Disney World Monorail Systems, parking trams, and steamboats. Masks are no longer mandatory in all indoor and outdoor Park areas, and–most recently–The Disneyland Resort revived its nighttime spectaculars like the Disneyland Forever Fireworks Show, World of Color, and a reimagined version of the Main Street Electrical Parade.

It is unclear at this time when exactly the Red Car will resume service. We at Disney Fanatic will continue to update our readers on this and other Disney Park stories as more developments come to light.
