Fans Fear Disney World Is About to Pull the Plug on Iconic Land

Disney World has always thrived on reinvention. The parks are constantly in motion, from swapping out beloved rides to rebuilding entire lands.

Fans have learned that nothing lasts forever, and with so many attractions already gone in 2025, speculation is running wild about what’s next.

Closures That Stung

This year brought several losses. Magic Kingdom shut down Tom Sawyer Island, and Rivers of America is under significant changes.

Over at Hollywood Studios, Muppet Vision 3D wrapped up its final show. Each closure felt like the end of an era, but together, they showed that Disney is firmly focused on the future.

Whole Lands on the Line

Disney is no longer just trimming around the edges. At Animal Kingdom, DinoLand U.S.A. is closing for good, soon to be reborn as Tropical Americas. Guests can expect Encanto and Indiana Jones to take center stage there. The bold move proves Disney is willing to trade nostalgia for newer, more marketable stories.

A Pattern Across the Parks

EPCOT has been reimagined with Guardians of the Galaxy and Journey of Water, Inspired by Moana, while Magic Kingdom’s Fantasyland continues to shine with popular rides. Tomorrowland, though, has become the prime example of sweeping change—something that should make fans of Adventureland a little nervous.

Tomorrowland Shows the Way

The arrival of TRON Lightcycle Run drew major attention to Tomorrowland, and Buzz Lightyear’s Space Ranger Spin is in the middle of a major refurbishment. Even the iconic Space Mountain has been caught up in rumors. Clearly, when Disney decides to refresh a land, nothing is off-limits.

Why Adventureland Stands Out

Adventureland seems like the most likely candidate for Disney’s next major project. The Beak and Barrel marketplace and tweaks to Pirates of the Caribbean show that it’s already under the microscope. Still, Adventureland hasn't had the same wow factor as the dazzling additions in other park areas in years.

The land’s attractions include the Swiss Family Treehouse, The Magic Carpets of Aladdin, Walt Disney’s Enchanted Tiki Room, Pirates of the Caribbean, and Jungle Cruise. While Pirates and Jungle Cruise remain strong, the rest struggle to keep crowds engaged.

Attractions in Danger

The Enchanted Tiki Room has long been rumored for a Moana retheme, potentially featuring characters like Hei Hei. Like Tom Sawyer Island, the Swiss Family Treehouse feels outdated and could be demolished. The Magic Carpets of Aladdin, seen as a Dumbo-style clone, could also disappear without much uproar.

Attractions That Will Survive

Pirates is unlikely to go anywhere, though Disney will continue to tweak it over time. Jungle Cruise, which has been popular and updated recently, should remain safe but could see some new additions.

The Future of Adventureland

Adventureland sits in a vulnerable spot. Surrounded by lands that have received high-tech thrills and shiny upgrades, it hasn’t kept pace. Disney has proven willing to remove attractions and entire lands, and the writing may be on the wall for Adventureland’s weaker offerings.

Fans should brace themselves: Adventureland might look very different the next time Disney unveils its plans for Magic Kingdom.
