In 1983, Walt Disney World Resort guests were introduced to an adorable purple dragon named Figment. Figment is the physical embodiment of the figment of your imagination, created by the Dreamfinder. He and the Dreamfinder were created for EPCOT’s brand-new ride, Journey Into Imagination. Since then, the ride has undergone more than one transformation, becoming Journey Into YOUR Imagination in 1999, and then Journey Into Imagination With Figment in 2001. It has remained Journey Into Imagination With Figment since then.
Over the years, Figment has become the mascot of EPCOT. He is on most of the merchandise for EPCOT’s many festivals, including the International Festival of the Arts, the International Food & Wine Festival, and Festival of the Arts. Fans can’t get enough of the lovable dragon, even waiting up to five hours to get their hands on a Figment Popcorn Bucket released during Festival of the Arts.
During the 2022 D23 Expo in Anaheim, California, Disney announced that Figment would be coming back to EPCOT for meet and greets. It is something that has been done in the past, but not for more than a decade. Disney said the meet and greets would begin in the summer of 2023, but nothing happened in June, July, or August and fans were worried. Then, finally, at Destination D23, Disney Parks Chairman Josh D’Amaro announced that Figment would be returning on September 10.
Well, Figment is now officially back and guests have been waiting five hours for the chance to meet him. Figment seemed to be just as excited and fell down as he came out of his Dreamport tunnel to greet the excited fans.

Thankfully, Disney cast members were quick to come to Figgy’s rescue and help the dragon. He quickly recovered and guests clapped as he made his way back out.
Hours for the Figment meet and greet can be found on the My Disney Experience app. Figment will be greeting guests at the Imagination! Pavilion, which is also where his attraction is located. There is also a ton of great Figment-themed merchandise in the gift shop located outside the attraction’s exit.
Since Disney has not announced that the meet and greet will only be for a limited time, it appears that Figment is here to stay!
