Disney is ushering in a new era of excitement by transforming DinoLand U.S.A. into what's being called Tropical Americas. Announced during the D23 event in August 2024, this transformation aims to revitalize an area that many fans have criticized over the years. Instead of focusing on dinosaurs, Tropical Americas will prominently feature attractions that appeal to a broader audience, introducing familiar Disney intellectual properties (IPs) for guests to enjoy.

The new ventures in Tropical Americas will spotlight well-known franchises, including Indiana Jones and Encanto. This shift aligns with Disney's strategy to enhance the theme park experience by integrating beloved stories into the landscape of Animal Kingdom. While the upcoming Encanto ride will be entirely new, fans will be thrilled to know that part of the potential Indiana Jones ride will incorporate elements from the classic DINOSAUR attraction, giving a nod to the past while paving the way for new adventures.

As the transformation progresses, the existing DinoLand will go dark, with its closure scheduled for February 2, 2026. While change can evoke nostalgia, it also promises a fresh wave of excitement and possibilities. This development will catalyze the park's evolution, as Disney continues to innovate and attract guests with engaging concepts.

The transition at Animal Kingdom is part of a larger trend sweeping through Walt Disney World. Across the entire resort, significant changes are taking place, moving toward a renewed vision for theme parks that resonate with both new and returning guests. With the push for modernization, Disney is embracing the opportunity to revamp experiences, ensuring that visitors continuously find something new and exciting during their visits.

Recently, Disney’s Hollywood Studios has also seen notable transformations, including the closure of the Muppets Courtyard area. This fan-favorite space, which celebrated the legacy of Jim Henson, will make way for the introduction of Monstropolis—a land inspired by Pixar’s Monsters Inc. This ambitious project promises to not only expand the park's offerings but also introduce new attractions and dining options that further immerse guests in beloved Disney storytelling.

With the impending closure of certain attractions, the excitement lies in what’s to come. Many guests are eagerly looking forward to the new Encanto ride, which promises to capture the essence of the animated film while providing an immersive experience. The creativity and attention to detail that Disney consistently applies to new attractions are sure to make this addition a must-see for guests of all ages.
