There is a sign hanging inside the unopened Five Guys at Universal CityWalk that reads “Five Guys Halloween Horror Nights, Open Until 1 AM.”
Universal has announced no opening date.
But that sign has an expiration date on it, and that changes things.
Some context.
Universal Orlando Resort said recently that Five Guys was coming to the upper level of CityWalk, across from Bread Box Handcrafted Sandwiches, taking the old Burger King Whopper Bar space. Menu confirmed. Seating confirmed. Opening date? “Coming soon.” That was it.
As of September 21, still nothing. No date, no hours.
Then on the evening of September 23, staff were spotted training inside, and that sign was up.
Do the Math on That Sign
Halloween Horror Nights 2026 runs select nights through November 1.
After November 1, a sign advertising Halloween Horror Nights hours is a piece of paper about something that already happened.
Nobody hangs event signage for a restaurant that will not be open during the event.
Now stack that with staff training happening on the floor, which is generally the last box to check before a soft opening.
Universal has confirmed nothing. But those two things do not point in different directions.
Honestly, the 1 a.m. Part Matters More
Forget the opening date for a second. The hours are the actual news.
Most CityWalk quick service is closed well before 1 a.m., and every Horror Nights veteran knows the specific misery that creates.
You stumble out of your last house around midnight. Six hours on your feet. You have eaten one pretzel and a bottle of water. And nothing decent is open.
A burger place running until 1 a.m. sits exactly in that hole.
Location helps too. Upper level CityWalk puts it on your way out toward parking instead of making you double back.
This is HHN's 35th anniversary season with 10 haunted houses. That is a serious amount of walking, and late food matters more during Horror Nights than during any other stretch of the year at Universal.
The Menu, Briefly
It is Five Guys. Burgers, hot dogs, hand-cut fries, milkshakes, piled with whatever you want.
Indoor and outdoor seating.
The one thing worth flagging is the breakfast sandwich. Universal specifically aimed it at guests walking into Universal Studios Florida and Islands of Adventure, which makes it a location play more than a menu item. Morning food at CityWalk is slim, and rope drop crowds pour through there every single day with time to burn.
And This Is the Second One This Month
Fat One's Hot Dogs and Italian Ice opened at CityWalk on September 19.
So that is two new quick service spots in the same month.
CityWalk has been quietly loading up on recognizable third party brands, and Whopper Bar into Five Guys is the cleanest version of that trade yet. The space was already built to cook burgers, which is exactly why a swap like this moves faster than building from nothing.
Passholder discounts hit at both, Premier and Preferred. Adds up fast if you are doing HHN more than once.
What Is Still Up in the Air
No opening date. No regular hours posted.
And read the 1 a.m. thing correctly. That is Halloween Horror Nights signage, meaning event period hours. Nobody has said what happens after November 1.
Staff training usually means a soft opening is next, which typically comes with shortened hours, a trimmed menu, and zero warning.
Keep an Eye on It
Upper level, across from Bread Box.
A soft opening will almost certainly just happen one day, with the first word coming from whoever walks past an open door.
If you are doing Horror Nights, track it. A burger at 12:45 a.m. is a significantly better ending than whatever you had planned.
