Some guests recently reported that the food quality at Jungle Skipper Canteen “ruined their meal” during a Walt Disney World visit.

The Walt Disney World Resort is more commonly known as “The Most Magical Place on Earth.” This name comes primarily from the incredible rides and attractions at the theme parks, like Space Mountain or Haunted Mansion, or restaurants like Cinderella’s Royal Table, Liberty Tree Tavern, Jungle Navigation Co. LTD Skipper Canteen, or California Grill at Disney World.

However, sometimes things can go awry at the Disney Resort, and per a recent guest report, the quality of food at a restaurant fell flat.

Salty Food at Jungle Skipper Canteen Ruins Guest Experience

Recently, a Disney World guest took to Reddit to ask about the quality of food at Ohana, the Polynesian restaurant at Disney’s Polynesian Village Resort. The guest explained, “We ate at skippers canteen yesterday, and the food was so salty that it just ruined the meal. My husband and I like salty things but it was way overdone.”

The guest then proceeded to inquire about the salt in the food at Ohana because they had heard guest reviews that shared food was quite salty at that restaurant as well.

Guests Come to Ohana’s Defense

However, many guests in the thread immediately spoke out in defense of Ohana.

One commented, “Ate there a few weeks ago. Had the usual outstanding experience. I don’t think the food was anything other than well seasoned and definitely not overly salty. Was so happy with the beef this time I commented that I wish I knew how to get mine to taste that good and the waiter told us cooking over white oak. I am now buying white oak pellets for my grill. If you have never been you are in for a treat IMO.”

Another shared a defense of Ohana as well as doubled down on the opinions shared about Jungle Skipper Canteen, “My wife and I love [Ohana.] I don’t recall it being especially salty. We’ve decided to stop going to Skipper’s Canteen since they took our favorite dish off the menu.”

This said, Disney World and its incredible attractions, restaurants, and resort hotels have well-earned their reputation. While there are certainly occasionally times when less than magical experiences at the parks than one might hope, there are many ways in which the theme park redeems itself.

Whether you choose to stay onsite at the amazing Disney resort hotels like Disney’s Contemporary Resort or Disney’s Animal Kingdom Lodge or come in for a day trip, rest assured, there’s a lot to enjoy at Walt Disney World.

Please note it’s important to remember that this is just one guest’s experience at the Central Florida Disney resort, and no two guest experiences are alike.
