Former Disney Chairman Promises ‘All the Resources,’ Donates $1.7 MILLION with Wife to President Biden’s Fund

Former Disney Chairman and mega-donor Jeffrey Katzenberg and his wife have dropped $1.7 million on President Biden’s Victory Fund.

There is a fundamental difference between individuals who support specific political causes and companies who vocally support a certain cause. When it comes to the Walt Disney Company, they have certainly been on the receiving end of much backlash from multiple ends of the spectrum when it comes to their ideology. Back in 2022, when Florida Gov. Ron DeSantis first announced the “Don’t Say Gay” bill, Disney at first officially said nothing, and then former Disney CEO Bob Chapek (after reported pressure) spoke out against it.

Disney Accused of Being Woke…and Not Being Woke Enough

While many have accused the House of Mouse of being too “woke” and “pandering to woke audiences,” the flipside has also been true that many feel that the Walt Disney Company’s actions are not enough for a company with its influence and scale.

One Human Rights Campaign even refused Disney’s money, saying they wanted to see Disney “build on their public commitment and work with LGBTQ+ advocates to ensure that dangerous proposals, like Florida’s Don’t Say Gay or Trans bill, don’t become dangerous laws.”

Former Disney Chairman and Wife Donate $1.7 Million Combined to President Biden’s Victory Fund

Current Disney CEO Bob Iger has backtracked on how Disney handled the “Don’t Say Gay” issue before and distanced himself from former Disney CEO Bob Chapek’s actions at the time. However, individually, he spoke out against the laws and condemned the legislation.

Similarly, former Disney Chairman Jeffrey Katzenberg has also made his political views clear in no uncertain terms. The mega-donor and media mogul and his wife have donated over $1.7 million to Biden’s re-election campaign—the Biden Victory Fund—for 2024, per Federal Election Commission records.

Yahoo! Entertainment also reported that the “Dreamworks SKG co-founder and Democratic megadonor vowed to deliver ‘all the resources’ that President Joe Biden will need for his 2024 reelection campaign.”

In further interviews, Reuters reported Katzenberg has also made clear he is optimistic about President Biden’s campaign. On the subject of President Joe Biden’s age, he called it Biden’s “superpower.”

He shared, “I think people have tried to paint it as a liability or a negative and I think they are going to fail at that because his age is his knowledge and experience, and as he has said, it is his wisdom.”

It is also true that the same has been said of former President Donald Trump, and about “one-fourth” of Republicans have the same concerns about former President Trump as well.
