WATCH: Guest Ignores Rules, Narrowly Avoids Hitting Other Guests

For more than 5 years — 2,089 days to be exact — Disney fans waited for Walt Disney World Resort’s newest roller coaster to open. TRON Lightcycle/Run was announced in 2017, with construction to start in 2018. The roller coaster would be an exact replica of the popular attraction that opened in Shanghai Disneyland in 2016. Disney’s plan was to have the coaster up and running when Walt Disney World kicked off its 50th Anniversary in October 2021. Unfortunately, construction quickly fell behind. Then COVID happened. Before we knew it, the 50th had started and TRON was still a long way off from opening.

Finally, on April 4, 2023, TRON officially opened to the public, just days after the 50th anniversary ended. TRON Lightcycle/Run was unlike anything else at Walt Disney World. It is the only ride where there are lockers for Guests to store their personal belongings, since they are not allowed on the ride. There are also lockers at Kali River Rapids in Disney’s Animal Kingdom, but Guests are allowed to take their belongings with them, knowing they will get wet.

Walt Disney World Resort Cast Members work hard to make sure Guests follow the rules. That is especially true at TRON. The coaster goes over Guests below, so they don’t want anything to happen that could hurt theme park Guests. That is why Guests are told to leave all their items in the lockers. Sadly, some Guests think that the rules don’t apply to them.

Recently, one Guest riding TRON didn’t think that they needed to put all their belongings in the lockers. They brought an item on the ride and, surprise surprise, they lost it during the ride. Thankfully, it fell in an area where there were no Guests. TikToker AlyssaDisneyTravel happened to be filming at the time and saw the item fall.

In her video, Alyssa reminded people that this is exactly why Disney has Guests store their items before they ride.

Please remember that Disney does not make the rules just for the sake of making them. They want to keep all Guests safe. In the past, Guests who have ignored the rules have gotten hurt. One even lost some fingers! You don’t want to be one of those Guests who have to report a lost valuable and then explain to the Cast Member that you lost it because you didn’t bother to listen and follow the rules.

TRON Lightcycle/Run is still utilizing a virtual queue at this time. Theme park Guests can also purchase an individual Lightning Lane. TRON is also one of the more controversial rides at the Park. Disney is famous for catering to Guests of many shapes and sizes. However, TRON is designed to lock behind the knee. That has led to many Guests not being able to fit in the traditional seat. They must ride in the modified seats, which are not available on every group of bikes.
