Disney World Should Auction Off 50th Anniversary Statues

Disney World 50th Anniversary Statues

Regardless of how disappointing people may have seen it, Walt Disney World Resort’s 50th Anniversary Celebration is finally coming to an end, with all of the decorations and even the fireworks being finally retired. However, there is still one way that Disney Parks can make a little extra money off of the event, and a few lucky Guests and go home with some extra-magical souvenirs.

Scattered across Magic Kingdom Park, EPCOT, Disney’s Hollywood Studios, and Disney’s Animal Kingdom are 50 gold statues. Called the “Fab 50,” these figurines are 50 of the most iconic and beloved characters to come out of Walt Disney Animation Studios. They can be found in appropriate sections of each Park, with the highest concentration of them being in the Central Hub of the Magic Kingdom in front of Cinderella Castle. Now, it is expected that these statues will actually remain in their places, but there is so much more potential standing there. Disney should hold a live auction selling off each statue to the highest bidder.

Whether it is the golden Mickey Mouse, the Chip and Dale duo, or Bambi, there is bound to be someone out there who wants to put that gold statue in their home. If people are willing and able to pay thousands of dollars for the crystal figurines sold on Main Street, U.S.A., they will want to pay for a literal piece of their favorite Theme Parks.

Unfortunately, though, there is no word at this time if there will ever be such an auction. If anything, the 50 statues will most likely remain a part of the Imagineering architecture. But we Disney Fanatics can still dream, right?
