One of Disney’s most in-demand nighttime spectacular shows, Fantasmic!, never fails to be on Disney Guests’ lists during their Disney World or Disneyland vacations and Disney Park visit.
The show typically takes place in the Hollywood Hills Amphitheater within the Walt Disney World Resort theme park called Hollywood Studios or the Disneyland Resort area near the Rivers of America within Frontierland.
Fantasmic! is considered to be a Disney classic by the average Disney fan, and it has only recently returned to Disney World after the disruption caused by the ongoing COVID-19 pandemic.
However, unfortunately, Disneyland Resort Guests who are visiting Disneyland to see Fantasmic! might be disappointed for several weeks — and Disneyland has not, so far, provided an explanation for the holdup with the nighttime show.
According to the Disneyland Resort website, all of the showings of Fantasmic! are canceled until at least February 2 starting as of now.
As many Disney fans already know, Fantasmic! focuses on the following: “Fast asleep, Mickey dreams he is the Sorcerer’s Apprentice. With a wave of his hands, he conducts scenes from Fantasia across enormous screens of water while brilliant sparks burst overhead. Pink elephants, swashbuckling pirates, princesses and more — including memorable scenes from Disney classics such as Aladdin, The Lion King, Tangled and Pirates of the Caribbean — appear on and around the Rivers of America.”
In recent months, we have seen some additions to Fantasmic! as well in the form of Disney princesses like Elsa, Moana, and Mulan — and Mickey’s main opponent continues to be Maleficent, although Disney villains like the Evil Queen also make an appearance.
The Fantasmic! show has “a fantastical array of live performers, beloved Disney characters, enhanced special effects, state-of-the-art projections and superb pyrotechnics” that will apparently “wow the entire family”, so if you are a Disney fan who has not seen the show in Disneyland — but you’re heading to Rivers of America in the Disney Parks before February 2 — then here’s hoping that Disneyland will have fixed whatever issues have caused all of these show cancellations!
