In the Walt Disney Company’s centenary year, a movement has been made to revisit the films and iconic animated characters that set the foundation for Disney’s multigenerational fandom. With classic shorts as the building blocks for Walt Disney Animated Studios, characters like Donald Duck, Chip n’ Dale, and Goofy are being revived in their roles from the early 1900s and brought back to the small screen on Disney+.
While one of the original favorites, Goofy, made a comeback for the Goofy Movie series in the 90s, he didn’t always have an attraction dedicated to his name. But in 2011, a rethemed attraction at Disneyland Park quite literally crash-landed into the Paradise Gardens Park section of Disney California Adventure.
Based on a 1940s short “Goofy’s Glider” and in the style of a zippy 1950s coaster, Goofy’s Sky School doesn’t house the Haunted Mansion‘s ghouls, but it’s spooking the “ah-hyuck” out of Guests.
Goofy’s Fright School
With bucked teeth and a lovable gaze, there’s nothing scary about Goofy. The gentle giant means no harm, but in his true clumsy fashion, he can be a bit of a loose cannon. After experiencing the horrors of Goofy’s gliding skills, u/MulciberTenebras took to Reddit to see if other Guests shared the after-shock of Goofy’s Sky School:
“Goofy’s Sky School” might legitimately be one of the scariest rides at Disneyland

A jerky “Wild Mouse” style coaster, Goofy’s Sky School takes Guests on a winding journey punctuated by clouds just a tad too close to their heads. With little coverage in the ride vehicle and sky-high views of Disneyland, it’s become known as a certified scare. Like Disney’s Animal Kingdom’s defunct Primeval Whirl, the spunky Sky School is a rousing favorite among Guests.
Another Disney fan, u/nautshot, shared a review of Goofy’s pilot skills:
My spine is still recovering from riding that back in 2021. 10/10 would ride again tho
Reviews that the Disneyland Resort attraction is “absolutely horrifying” flooded the comment section, although some fans expressed their nostalgia for the attraction before the Goofy retheme, Mulholland Madness.
The consensus was the Goofy attraction is horrifyingly amazing—and a little tough on your back.
