Guests Strip as Disney World Skyliner Breaks Down, Leaving Them Stranded

For years, Guests visiting Walt Disney World Resort had several ways to travel between the theme parks, water parks, hotels, and Disney Springs. The most common mode of transportation is the Disney buses. Certain Resorts hotels are also able to utilize the iconic Walt Disney World monorail. Other Guests love to travel by boat or ferry. Of course, Guests staying at the hotels, as well as those just visiting for the day can drive to the theme park they are visiting, park, and then take the trams to the theme park entrance.

Then, in 2019, Disney World introduced a brand-new way to travel between certain hotels and theme parks — the Disney Skyliner. The Skyliner is made up of Disney-themed gondolas that take Guests to both Disney’s Hollywood Studios and EPCOT. Guests can board the Skyliner from Disney’s Caribbean Beach Resort, the Riviera Resort, Disney’s Pop Century Resort, and Art of Animation. Caribbean Beach is the Skyliner hub, so Guests staying at the other Resorts on the route will take the Skyliner to Caribbean Beach. Then they can hop on a gondola to Hollywood Studios and EPCOT.

As many people know, Florida can get incredibly hot, especially in the summer. The Disney Skyliner does not have air conditioning. This is because the movement of the Skyliner allows air to flow through each gondola, ensuring that they don’t get too hot. But what happens when the Skyliner breaks down? Unfortunately, one couple found out the hard way.

TikToker Camryn Brielle (@camryn_brielle) recently visited Disney World with her boyfriend. They boarded the Skyliner and, mid-trip, the Skyliner stopped. The problem was that it didn’t start working again right away. In fact, it didn’t work for more than an hour. That meant that, at the beginning of June, on a sunny day, Camryn and her boyfriend were suspended in direct sunlight, with no air.

PSA: never take the disney skyliner ‼️ @Disney Parks we were stuck on the disney skyliner for 40 minutes in a tiny unairconditoned, overly heated box high in the sky with no water! not shown here is me crying and the anxiety attack this gave us and all we got in return was a 12 ounce water and a “sorry” when we finally made it to the ground. when you pay over $200 a person for a day in the parks every minute counts and it was sad to lose almost an hour of it ☹️#disney #disneyworld #disneyskyliner #epcot #magickingdom #hollywoodstudios #florida

Camryn shared a video of herself and her boyfriend, clearly sweating in their gondola. Her boyfriend was able to take off his tank top, but the only thing she could remove was her Minnie Ears. Camryn also said that all they were given was a bottle of water when they were finally able to get off the Skyliner.

Camryn was also frustrated as losing precious time in the Parks because the Skyliner broke down. It costs well over $150 per day to get into one Disney Park. If that ticket is a Park Hopper, the cost is over $200 for just one day. Losing an hour is a lot of time, considering how much Camryn and her boyfriend paid to enjoy their day at The Most Magical Place on Earth.

Commenters felt for the couple and said that they would have been upset had the same thing happened to them. However, Camryn, and many others, also learned something new One commenter let her know that each gondola has an emergency kit that comes with snacks and water. Others said that they had the same thing happen, and they got refunds on both Park tickets and hotel rooms.
