What Is Going on at Cosmic Rewind? Guest Shares Confusing Photo

A recent Reddit post has sparked a flurry of fan discussion about Guardians of the Galaxy: Cosmic Rewind, EPCOT’s high-octane roller coaster. Known for its immersive queue and non-stop action, the ride appeared to experience a shift in its usual operations on May 28, 2025, with a much shorter standby line than expected.

Reddit user TrashPanda-1108 noticed something was different: “The queue is outside right now to the left and entering through a back door. Not sure why.”

Others chimed in with theories and observations, ranging from maintenance tools to prior issues. One guest, CatStimpsonJ, shared, “been that way since at least 9 a.m. this morning … I saw someone with hand tools go in the front – hammer, cordless drill, etc.”

Adding to the mystery, user TemperatureFickle596 described what may be behind the temporary queue relocation: “I went yesterday and the ceiling been busted from a sprinkler leak & the wall had water inside of the wallpaper from it.”

Although Disney has yet to confirm any maintenance work at the attraction, fans recall a similarly strange incident from March, when a viral video revealed waste on the walls and floor inside the queue—prompting guests to cover their noses while still choosing to remain in line.

Despite these brief interruptions, Cosmic Rewind remains one of the most sought-after attractions at EPCOT. Located in World Discovery, the ride serves as Disney’s first reverse-launch roller coaster and EPCOT’s first-ever thrill ride of its kind. Guests board 360-degree rotating ride vehicles for a fast-paced mission through space, helping the Guardians stop the Celestial Eson from altering reality.

The experience begins in the “Galaxarium,” where visitors learn about Xandar before being swept into the action. Star-Lord, Gamora, Drax, Rocket, Groot, and Nova Prime appear, with Terry Crews stepping in as the brand-new Centurion Tal Marik.

Since early 2025, the attraction has moved away from the virtual queue format, opting for standby and Lightning Lane access. The update brought mixed reactions from guests.

Adding to the seasonal excitement, EPCOT’s Cool Kids Summer festivities are now underway, with GoofyCore turning CommuniCore Hall into a colorful celebration. Meanwhile, the much-anticipated return of Test Track is just around the corner as the attraction nears completion of its refurbishment.

Whether the brief queue change was due to unexpected repairs or a temporary adjustment, one thing remains clear: guests are still eager to team up with the Guardians.

When he’s not thinking about the Magic Kingdom, Thomas is usually reading a book, becoming desperately obsessed with fictional characters, or baking something delicious (his favorite is chocolate cake -- to bake and to eat). He's a dreamer and grew up on Mulan saving the world, Jim Hawkins soaring through the stars, and Padmé Amidala fighting a Nexu. At the Parks, he loves to ride Everest, stroll down Main Street with an overstuffed pin lanyard around his neck, and eat as many Mickey-shaped ice creams as possible. His favorite character is Han Solo (yes, he did shoot first), and his favorite TV show is Buffy the Vampire Slayer except when it's One Tree Hill. He loves sandy beach walks, forest hikes, and foodie days out in the Big City. Thomas lives in England, UK, with his fiancée, baby, and their dog, a Border Collie called Luna.
