Hulu Officially Retiring Streaming Service, Effective Next Month

On Thursday, subscribers to Hulu received news that one of the streaming service’s most popular live channels would be going dark in June. The Vevo Features Channel, which is widely loved by live TV subscribers, will no longer be available as of June 26, 2025. Hulu sent out emails notifying customers that the company no longer has the rights to stream the content featured on the channel.

Hulu is known for its extensive library of hit shows like The Kardashians, Bob’s Burgers, The Handmaid’s Tale, and Abbott Elementary. However, it’s also home to several live channels replicating traditional cable television. One of these live channels, The Vevo Features Channel, streams music videos celebrating holidays, cultural events, and more. Live TV subscribers now have a limited amount of time to watch the fan favorite channel before it disappears from the service.

In an email sent to subscribers, Hulu explained that due to the loss of rights to the content, The Vevo Features Channel will be unavailable to live TV subscribers starting June 26, 2025. However, all other Vevo content, as well as nearly 100 other live TV channels, will remain unaffected.

The Walt Disney Company officially took control of Hulu in 2019 after acquiring a majority stake in the service through the 21st Century Fox merger. By 2023, Disney had purchased the remaining shares from AT&T and Comcast, giving the company complete ownership of the platform.

Today, subscribers can bundle Disney+, Hulu, Max (soon to be HBO Max), and ESPN+ into a variety of packages, with options both with and without advertisements. In December 2023, Disney+ launched a Hulu content hub on its platform, making it easier for eligible subscribers to access content from FX, Bravo, and more without switching apps. Additionally, Disney+ rolled out a passcode program to allow users to lock profiles that can access adult content on the famously family-friendly streamer.
