Another hurricane season begins on June 1, and the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration (NOAA) has released the names of all the storms that could potentially come to Florida and The Walt Disney World Resort.
According to the NOAA, there will potentially be “Hurricane Cindy.” We have to ask, could Cindy be short for Cinderella?
To close off this year’s Hurricane Awareness Week, let’s take a look at the tropical cyclone names for the Atlantic basin for 2023. It is well known that The Walt Disney Company does not tolerate anybody using their intellectual property, and Cinderella is one of their biggest princesses. So, while we have no evidence to confirm it, it would make sense for the NOAA would be pressured to go with a shorter, more subtle version of the name.
If the weather evolves to give us a Hurricane “Cindy,” it would follow a more obvious Disney name. Tropical Storm Gaston appeared in the Atlantic Ocean and visited The Azores before dissipating.
Jokes aside, hurricanes can be incredibly dangerous, and Hurricane Ian reminded us last year as it tore through Central Florida and caused the Walt Disney World Resort and Universal Orlando Resort to close their Theme Parks and Resort Hotels for the first time since the Covid-justified lockdowns.
Hurricane Season lasts from June 1 through November 30. And while it will continue to be a concern, the NOAA, National Weather Service, and National Hurricane Center work around the clock with local news stations to make sure that would-be Disney World Guests and Universal Orlando Guests will have plenty of time to consider canceling their trip in the case a storm heads that way. It also cannot be understated that there is arguably no safer or better place to be in Florida when a hurricane hits than at the Walt Disney World Resort.
We at Disney Fanatic will continue to update our readers on Disney Parks-related news and stories as more developments come to light.
