Hurricane Ian has set a course for Central Florida and is set to bring a major impact to Walt Disney Disney World Resort and Disney Cruise Line’s homeport at Port Canaveral, and a new update has emerged concerning Disney Cruise Line’s ship, the Disney Wish.
Originally set to return to Port Canaveral on Friday, September 30, it now appears that the Disney Wish will stay out to see away from the affected area until Saturday, October 1. This news comes from Attractions Magazine, which shared a video taken from aboard the Wish as the Captain made the shipwide announcement.

The Captain said that part of the decision was due to the fact that not only could the weather affect port conditions but also ground transportation to and from the port itself. The announcement was met by cheers throughout the Frozen-themed restaurant.
The Captain also mentioned that all Guests who booked flights through Disney Cruise Line will receive updated itineraries. It should be noted that the nearest major airport to Port Canaveral, Orlando International Airport (MCO), is expected to close on Wednesday, and there is no word yet when it will reopen.
Disney Cruise Line’s website confirms that the Disney Wish will not return to port on schedule and that due to the Hurricane, a subsequent sailing is now canceled.

The Disney Wish was originally intended to do a turnaround on Friday, with a whole new set of Guests boarding the ship that afternoon. All would-be passengers on that now canceled sailing should expect to receive word from Disney Cruise Line shortly.
“We have been closely monitoring Hurricane Ian with the safety and well-being of our Guests and Crew Members always top of mind. Due to the weather conditions most recently forecasted for Port Canaveral and Central Florida and the impact that it might have on port operations, the September 30, 2022, sailing of the Disney Wish has been cancelled.”
This news follows Walt Disney World Resort’s recent decision to close all Theme Parks and Water Parks on Wednesday, September 28, and Thursday, September 29.
