If you’re a fan of Joe Jonas, Nick Jonas, Kevin Jonas, and the Jonas Brothers band members’ lesser-known brother Frankie Jonas, then you will definitely want to tune into ABC for the new TV show Claim to Fame! Kevin Jonas and Frankie Jonas are hosting the new show, and the duo recently spoke to D23 to give audiences an idea of what to expect (hint: it involves Zendaya).
The new show Claim to Fame is a unique series that (according to ABC) “challenges 12 celebrity relatives to step outside their famous family member’s shadow and live together under one roof, concealing their identity and lineage in the quest for their own fame and fortune”. The non-famous individuals “will compete in challenges, form alliances and play DNA detective in hopes of avoiding elimination and winning the coveted $100,000 prize”!
The premise for this show might sound a tad insulting to all of the people who have had to live under a famous relative’s shadow, but Frankie Jonas is a host who is intimately familiar with this particular challenge since his brothers are Disney Channel stars — and he and his brother were clearly excited about the project as they spoke to D23!
“None of them know who each other are [and] who is related to who, and they’ve got to figure it out. If they get it right, they get to stay there and they get to win $100,000. f they get it wrong, they get kicked out of the house,” Kevin Jonas explained enthusiastically, calling the show “wild, fun, and very deceitful in a good way — like all great TV.”
Frankie Jonas is less famous than his brothers (especially Joe Jonas, who went on to marry Game of Thrones star Sophie Turner and formed a music group called DNCE that created hit songs like “Cake by the Ocean”, and Nick Jonas, who has acted in films alone and sung his own solo music — not to mention married the iconic Indian actress Priyanka Chopra in a swoon-worthy romance). However, hosting this new TV show might change that.
Frankie’s brothers Joe, Kevin, and Nick were having a lot of success with their Jonas Brothers band when Disney offered them vital roles in the 2008 Disney Channel Original Movie Camp Rock (and of course, the sequel 2010 Camp Rock: Final Jam, which Frankie Jonas did have a part in). The trio almost turned down the roles — until Disney rewrote the movie for them.
Now, these two Jonas brothers will again be calling the shots as relatives of celebrities (like Zendaya, who was specifically mentioned during the D23 podcast interview) set off in a competition to try to achieve their own “fame and fortune”!
