Back in 2021, actor Jonathan Majors became a Marvel superstar when he appeared as Kang the Conqueror in the hit Disney+ show Loki. The show set Kang up to become the ultimate new villain after the Avengers defeated Thanos. He then made another appearance in 2023 when he starred in Ant-Man and the Wasp: Quantumania. Majors became a household name as he continued to appear in a number of hit films, including Devotion, Magazine Dreams, and Creed III. However, his career has recently hit a huge roadblock, as he was arrested for assault back in March.
The actor’s lawyer, Priya Chaudhry, has spoken out several times about the charges against him, claiming that the police are only going after him because of “racial bias”. He has called the entire process a “witch hunt.” While Mr. Majors has claimed that it was his ex-girlfriend who was actually the abusive ones, people that have known Majors for years, and those who have worked with him, are saying that this isn’t the first time the actor has become violent. In fact, he has a long history of violence, intimidation, and making those around him uncomfortable.
According to a bombshell new report from Rolling Stone, Mr. Majors has been physically abusive to previous partners, and has even become violent with those he worked with in drama school. He has also reportedly made sets he worked on miserable because of his behavior. When Majors was arrested, his now ex-girlfriend, Grace Jabbari, claimed that he choked her. Per Rolling Stone, that is not the first time he has attempted to strangle a significant other.
When it comes to working on set, multiple sources said that Majors seemed to take “some kind of sick pleasure” in hurting others. His behavior was called “borderline abusive” and he made hard-working crew members cry. He also has been accused of pushing a crew member on the set of Magazine Dreams. A complaint was even filed. Majors’ team has denied the claims and said that he is a “method actor”, which can sometimes come off as rude and abrasive. That behavior went back as far as drama school, where is frequently intimidated other students he worked with. His behavior became so problematic that school officials were forced to send a school-wide email, “reminder about rehearsal etiquette and violence” after two separate incidents.
Majors is set to go to trial on August 3 in New York. One source who spoke to Rolling Stone said that they weren’t surprised to hear that Majors had been arrested for assault. The anonymous source said, “It always felt like it was a matter of time because his behavior never changed. He’s kind of a bad dude, and now it’s just catching up with him.” Majors’ reps have called the abusive behavior allegations in Rolling Stone “false.”
Disney has not commented on the serious allegations levied against Majors, but it does appear that they are planning to continue working with him. Majors is set to appear in Avengers: The Kang Dynasty (2026) and Avengers: Secret Wars (2027). Should Disney choose to not work with Majors, it would not be as difficult to recast him, as a new actor could be explained as being a different Kang from an alternate timeline.
