Since 2009, Marvel Studios has been one of The Walt Disney Company’s biggest moneymakers. From The Avengers to Black Panther: Wakanda Forever, Marvel has raked in billions for the Mouse House. It has also launched talented actors into superstardom. Marvel stars are loved by millions, whether they are new to the MCU or have been a part of it for years. That’s why, on March 25, fans of the Marvel Cinematic Universe were shocked to learn that star Jonathan Majors — who played the villain Kang in both Ant-Man and the Wasp: Quantumania and Loki — had been arrested for assault.

According to reports and arrest records, Mr. Majors was arrested for assaulting a thirty-year-old woman during a domestic dispute. Majors was arrested and booked on charges of assault, strangulation, and harassment. The unknown woman suffered minor injuries to her head and neck and was taken to the hospital for treatment. The relationship between Mr. Majors and the woman is unknown. The only word used to describe the relationship was “domestic”.

Majors’ attorney, Priya Chaudhry, said that the actor denies all the claims levied against him. She also said that there is a lot of evidence proving his innocence that will be released. Per a report from The Hollywood Reporter, who spoke to the attorney:

“Jonathan Majors is completely innocent and is provably the victim of an altercation with a woman he knows,” the actor’s criminal defense lawyer, Priya Chaudhry, told The Hollywood Reporter in a statement on Sunday. “We are quickly gathering and presenting evidence to the District Attorney with the expectation that all charges will be dropped imminently.”

Video footage from the vehicle where the incident took place, along with witness testimony and alleged statements from the woman recanting her allegations are among the evidence Major’s attorney noted are being collected. The statement also alleges the alteration was a result of a mental health incident involving the woman.

“All the evidence proves that Mr. Majors is entirely innocent and did not assault her whatsoever,” Chaudhry added. “The NYPD is required to make an arrest in these situations, and this is the only reason Mr. Majors was arrested.”

Majors appeared before a judge and was released on his own recognizance. His next court date is scheduled for May. 8.

Majors is one of the newest players in the MCU, first appearing as Kang in the Disney+ series, Loki. Marvel has set Kang up to be Marvel’s next big bad. After Loki, Kang appeared as a variant in Ant-Man and the Wasp: Quantumania. Majors is also returning as Kang in Avengers: Secrets Wars and Avengers: The Kang Dynasty. The Kang Dynasty is slated to be released in 2025, with Secret Wars coming out in 2026.
