‘Jurassic Park’ Series Officially Ending, Several OG Characters Confirmed To Return

Netflix is about to close the book on its Jurassic Park series, but it’s doing so in familiar territory. The upcoming fourth season of Jurassic World: Chaos Theory will mark the end of the animated series, and the first teaser places its young survivors right in the middle of Biosyn Valley — the location introduced in the 2022 film Jurassic World Dominion.

Watch the new teaser below:

This move sets up an intriguing scenario: for the first time, the stage is perfectly aligned for the arrival of legacy characters.

Alan Grant (Sam Neill), Ellie Sattler (Laura Dern), and Ian Malcolm (Jeff Goldblum) all returned for Dominion, alongside Jurassic World series regulars Claire Dearing (Bryce Dallas Howard), Owen Grady (Chris Pratt), and Maisie Lockwood (Isabella Sermon).

To date, the only film character to play a consistent role in the animated stories has been Dr. Henry Wu (voiced by Greg Chun, played by BD Wong in the films) and Lewis Dodgson (voiced by Adam Harrington, played by Campbell Scott in Dominion). If Netflix ever planned to spring a few major cameos, this final season would be the moment to do it.

Even Soyona Santos has become a regular character, with Dichen Lachman reprising her role from the 2022 film.

Despite only being five years old, the animated branch of the franchise has had a long run. Between Camp Cretaceous and Chaos Theory, audiences have watched Darius Bowman (Paul-Mikél Williams), Kenji Kon (Darren Barnet, previously Ryan Potter), Brooklynn (Kiersten Kelly in Chaos Theory, previously Jenna Ortega), Ben Pincus (Sean Giambrone), Yasmina “Yaz” Fadoula (Kausar Mohammed), and Sammy Gutierrez (Raini Rodriguez) grow from stranded kids into hardened survivors.

That arc has unfolded against a backdrop of dinosaurs spilling into the modern world — a concept that the films haven’t always leaned into.

In fact, that commitment to exploring human–dinosaur coexistence is one reason fans have embraced Chaos Theory. It stands in sharp contrast to Jurassic World Rebirth, which grossed $866.4 million but was widely dismissed as the weakest entry for skirting past the franchise’s central idea.

Dominion had similar problems, but Chaos Theory found ways to enrich its story by weaving around it — most notably in Season 3, which overlapped with Owen Grady’s thrilling Atrociraptor chase sequence through Malta.

Netflix has no announced follow-up animated series, meaning this is the end of the line for now. The final season of Chaos Theory premieres November 20.

Of course, the brand itself isn’t going extinct. Gamers will get “Jurassic World Evolution 3,” a new park management sequel arriving in October, while “Jurassic Park: Survival” will transport players back to the Isla Nublar of the 1993 classic. One era may be closing, but the roar of Jurassic isn’t fading anytime soon. The only question: will Chaos Theory go out quietly, or surprise fans with the return of iconic characters before the credits roll?
