According to a permit filed by Disney at the former site of the NBA Experience at Disney Springs, updates are coming to the building.

The Walt Disney World Resort is known for being “The Most Magical Place on Earth” and for good reason. Guests can immerse themselves in the Disney experience with a stroll down Main Street, U.S.A., or a ride on Space Mountain or Big Thunder Mountain Railroad in the Magic Kingdom.

Alternatively, one can also enjoy safaris with the animals at Disney’s Animal Kingdom Theme Park or a walk on Sunset Boulevard at Disney’s Hollywood Studios.

Updates Come to Space That Once Housed NBA Experience

Theme park journalist Ashley Carter recently shared the news on X, formerly Twitter, that the Walt Disney Company has filed a permit for work to be done in the space that once housed the NBA Experience in Disney Springs.

She wrote, “Disney has filed a permit for work at the former site of the NBA Experience at Disney Springs. The permit calls for “General construction / Demo” work at the building.”

The attraction first closed in 2020 during the pandemic, and then in 2021, Disney revealed that it had shuttered permanently.

Of course, some fans were unsurprised to see it go. One wrote, ‘Due to the pandemic.’ Now you’re just being nice. No sport experience was going to survive with that concept. Each has a limited audience. And at that price point, being able to shoot hoops, hit a baseball, kick a soccer ball, etc, was not high on a WDW visit list.”

It’s not entirely clear what will be replacing the experience at the moment, but we’re certainly excited to see what will come to the space.
