The Disney Channel and Disney theatrical Broadway productions are merging together once again as Ryan McCartan, the actor who played the lead character and love interest Diggie on the popular Disney Channel show Liv and Maddie, joins Broadway’s production of Frozen to reprise his role as the villain Prince Hans of the Southern Isles in the Broadway show!
Ryan Jerome McCartan will be playing Hans in the Broadway theater performances during the Florida and South Carolina portions of Frozen’s North American tour of the Broadway musical, between March 17 and April 17.
Ryan McCartan is an actor and singer best known for his role as the athlete Diggie, since Diggie was the main love interest of Maddie (played by Dove Cameron, who also played twin sister Liv) on Liv and Maddie and the award-winning Disney Channel show about two twins lasted for four seasons. The sitcom TV series also starred actors Joey Bragg, Tenzing Norgay Trainor, Kali Rocha, and Benjamin King.
Ryan McCartan and Dove Cameron were also a favorite Disney couple offscreen, even going so far as to form their own pop duo called The Girl and The Dreamcatcher until the couple broke up and disappointed many fans in the process. Both Dove Cameron and McCartan have performed in musicals onstage many times since then!
Many Live and Maddie fans might not have known that McCartan has already played Hans in Frozen’s Broadway show, but he expressed his enthusiasm about returning to the onstage role for some performances on Instagram! “I am so excited to finally announce that I am reprising my role of Hans!”, the actor and singer said. “I cannot wait to join this amazingly talented cast and crew and tell this story once again.”
McCartan will be joining the Broadway cast to play the villainous Prince of the Southern Isles (known as Hans) in Fort Lauderdale, Florida, and Tampa, Florida before finishing the limited engagement performances in Greenville, South Carolina. Then, Austin Colby will rejoin the Broadway cast in the role of Hans on April 20 in Cincinnati, Ohio.
Frozen has also been on many people’s minds lately after a young Elsa singing the signature Elsa song “Let It Go” (from within a Ukrainian bomb shelter) inspired people around the world (including Frozen celebrities like Idina Menzel, Josh Gad, and Caroline Bowman (who plays Elsa in the Broadway musical)!
