The last of three rocket-shaped towers that defined the entrance to Tomorrowland at Magic Kingdom Park for more than three decades is gone, hinting that the transformation of the futuristic land's gateway is now complete.
The Final Tower Comes Down

WDWNT reported on Monday that the third and final 1994 tower had been removed from the hub-side entrance to Tomorrowland at Magic Kingdom Park, near Cosmic Ray's Starlight Cafe. The outlet shared a photo showing the cleared site where the large structure once stood, with a green tarp and construction equipment still visible on the ground in its place.
The removal brings to a close a process that has been playing out in stages since early June. The first two towers — positioned at the Main Street, U.S.A. and Cinderella Castle hub entrances to Tomorrowland — disappeared earlier in the month. The third and largest structure began dismantling a few weeks later, with the roof coming down first, followed by a tan fabric scrim temporarily covering the rusted metal remains, before crews finished the job. At the site of one of the previously removed smaller towers, the green tarp and debris have already been cleared away.
A 1994 Vintage Entirely Removed

All three towers were part of the same 1994 refresh of Tomorrowland at Magic Kingdom Park, which also introduced the rock formations at the land's entrance — rock formations that Walt Disney World Resort has been slowly repainting over the past several years. That repainting work recently reached completion, aided by the draining of the Cinderella Castle moat during a separate repainting project that allowed crews to finish the large rocks at the Tomorrowland entrance.
With the towers gone and the rocks repainted, the 1994 visual identity of Tomorrowland's entrance has been effectively retired after 32 years.
What Comes Next Is Anyone's Guess

Walt Disney World Resort has not issued any public statement about the tower removals or what, if anything, will take their place. Whether the cleared sites will receive new decorative elements as part of a broader Tomorrowland refresh — or whether the space will simply remain open — hasn't been addressed. The futuristic land has been in active evolution for several years, with the addition of TRON Lightcycle / Run, updates to Buzz Lightyear's Space Ranger Spin, and the upcoming overhaul of Walt Disney's Carousel of Progress all part of an ongoing effort to modernize the area.
