Magic Kingdom Touring Plan for Families With Small Children

6. Mid-Day / Early Afternoon

The hottest hours of the day in Florida tend to be between noon and 4 PM, so the overall theme for these hours is “downtime”!  Parents who recognize this are rewarded with children who can often enjoy the park into the evening hours, whereas parents who ignore this are often confronted with a full-blown tantrum by late afternoon.  If you are staying in the park, find a cool place to grab some lunch.  Then find a place in the shade to sit and let your kids take a nap.  There are even some slow rides you can enjoy with a napping child.  The Liberty Belle, the Tomorrowland Transit Authority PeopleMover, and the Walt Disney World Railroad were among some of my favorites.  Some parents decide to leave the park and head back to their resort for lunch and a nap with their kids.  If you are staying on Disney property nearby, this is a particularly good option as it allows your children to keep close to their usual daytime schedule.

Don

Don has a huge passion for All Things Disney, and is fortunate to be the husband of a Disney-obsessed wife and father to five Disney-loving children. A former TV writer in Los Angeles, Don visited the Disneyland Resort several times a week as an Annual Passholder before moving to Orlando and becoming an Annual Passholder at Walt Disney World as well. He finally gave in to his passion and became a Disney World Cast Member, working his way up to Disney Trainer in the Transportation Department where he worked for three years. Don is excited to share his love and knowledge of Disney here on DisneyFanatic.com!
