Major Changes Dropped Inside of ‘Star Wars’ Galaxy’s Edge

Disney World is gearing up for some significant changes in 2025, with several popular attractions temporarily closing for updates and improvements. While closures can be frustrating for visitors, they’re a crucial part of Disney’s ongoing efforts to enhance the guest experience and keep the parks running smoothly.

At Disney’s Hollywood Studios, Millennium Falcon: Smugglers Run recently ended its test phase of allowing groups of two in the single-rider line. The ride has now returned to its original format, allowing only solo riders to bypass the regular queue.

This popular Star Wars: Galaxy’s Edge attraction lets guests take on roles such as pilot, engineer, or gunner in an action-packed adventure aboard the legendary Millennium Falcon. Although the modified single-rider line for pairs was short-lived, Disney may revisit it in the future based on guest feedback.

EPCOT’s Test Track is currently closed for a major reimagining, with plans to introduce updated ride technology and design elements. As one of the park’s most thrilling attractions, Test Track’s closure leaves a temporary gap, but fans are eager to see how the attraction evolves. Disney has not yet announced a reopening date, but the ride is expected to return with a fresh new look that still retains the high-speed excitement guests love.

Magic Kingdom is also undergoing several refurbishments in 2025. Astro Orbiter, the classic spinning attraction in Tomorrowland, is temporarily closed for maintenance. Meanwhile, the Walt Disney World Railroad remains out of operation, continuing its extended downtime due to construction around the park.

Guests have been waiting for the return of the beloved train ride, which offers a relaxing and scenic journey around the park. Additionally, Big Thunder Mountain Railroad is closing for refurbishment, temporarily taking away one of Frontierland’s most thrilling rides.

Over at Animal Kingdom, big changes are coming with the transformation of Dinoland U.S.A. into a Tropical Americas-themed land. This new area will feature experiences inspired by Encanto and Indiana Jones, bringing new energy and excitement to the park.
