Mass Shutdowns Slam Disney Parks, Guests Left Confused

For many Disney fans, a trip to Europe’s flagship resort offers something unique. Disneyland Paris blends the company’s signature attractions with French design flourishes, from the storybook-inspired Sleeping Beauty Castle to Ratatouille: L'Aventure Totalement Toquée de Rémy. Guests can also choose from a wide range of themed hotels and dining, with Walt Disney Studios Park continuing to evolve as construction moves forward on its Frozen-themed expansion.

Yet behind the magic, the resort has faced recurring challenges with ride operations. Big Thunder Mountain Railroad — often considered one of the best versions of the attraction — has developed a history of breakdowns. Avengers Assemble: Flight Force, the indoor Marvel coaster re-themed for Avengers Campus, has long been a lightning rod for guest complaints.

Today, those frustrations resurfaced. Visitors reported multiple attractions going offline in quick succession.

“Multiple times we have been in a queue for a ride, and it gets cancelled [due to] technical difficulties. Flight Force 3x, Indiana Jones, Big Thunder Mountain… What a way to have a good experience…” one guest posted on Reddit.

Guests on Phantom Manor were also evacuated, while Pirates of the Caribbean came to a sudden halt mid-ride.

“We were in the middle of the trip (according to the cast) so some of them got into the water wearing waterproof overalls others helped in a way with hooks, so they moved our boats to ‘emergency exit spots’, from there we step out from the boat and walk, it was a path outside the regular park area,” one rider explained.

According to some visitors, these breakdowns weren’t isolated incidents. Big Thunder Mountain Railroad, in particular, reportedly experienced issues earlier in the week. Despite its recent refurbishment, rumors now suggest the ride may be scheduled for another closure next year.

A Pattern of Technical Issues Across Parks

The Paris problems follow other technical setbacks across Disney’s global portfolio. A widespread cloud outage earlier this year wiped attraction wait times from Magic Kingdom’s entrances. In 2024, the same computer issue disrupted entry systems at Hong Kong Disneyland and Disneyland Paris, along with digital signage at Walt Disney Studios Park.

Even under normal circumstances, technical issues are relatively common. At Walt Disney World, rides like the Twilight Zone Tower of Terror and Star Wars: Rise of the Resistance frequently experience downtime. At Disneyland Resort in California, Indiana Jones Adventure has also gained a reputation for reliability problems.

Disneyland Paris provides operational updates via its mobile app, and longer-term refurbishments are announced in advance. However, sudden breakdowns like today’s remain harder to predict.

Despite the disruptions, guests can still enjoy a wide variety of experiences at the resort, from parades and stage shows to themed dining and hotel stays. The upcoming Frozen land, currently undergoing its finishing touches ahead of its spring 2026 opening, is also expected to broaden Walt Disney Studios Park's (often considered Disney's worst theme park) offerings in the next few years.

This will later be joined by Disney's first attraction inspired by The Lion King (1994), inspired by Pride Rock and situated inside its own land.
