MCO: 2 Million People Expected to Visit Orlando This Weekend

Orlando International Airport 4th of July

Another 4th of July weekend is upon us, Disney Fanatics, and once again, a flood of tourists is descending upon the vacation capital to celebrate Independence Day. This year, that flood is expected to be in the millions. Literally.

According to Orlando-area NBC affiliate WESH2 there is set to be an abnormal increase in air travelers as soaring gas prices debilitate would-be road trips.

Their report states, in part,

Gas is expensive and the cost of just about everything is going up, but that’s not stopping millions of people from getting out of town for the Fourth of July…At Orlando International Airport at times, it’s going to be a full house because they expect close to 2 million people to pass through.

For all would-be travelers to Central Florida, whether it is to the Walt Disney World Resort, Port Canaveral for a Disney Cruise, Universal Orlando Resort, or any other destination, we at Disney Fanatic advise that you and your party arrive at the airport early, and prepared to deal with delays due to staffing shortages and weather. While they are not immune to delays, the earliest flights to leave in the morning are least likely to be delayed.
