Eight years ago, Disney introduced audiences to Moana, its first Polynesian princess. In February, Disney CEO Bob Iger surprised fans by announcing that Moana 2 would be coming to theaters this fall. Originally planned as a Disney+ series, the footage was so impressive that it was reimagined as a theatrical release. This move was supported by the fact that the original Moana film was the most-streamed movie on Disney+ in 2023, with subscribers collectively watching it for more than 11 billion minutes.

Now, after nearly nine months of anticipation, Moana 2 is set to debut on November 27, just in time for the Thanksgiving holiday.
