Picking a Walt Disney World hotel can be almost as important as choosing when to visit.
In 2027, that decision deserves even more attention.
There are more than 30 hotel properties across Walt Disney World, and 10 of them already have refurbishments, maintenance projects, or transportation interruptions that could affect guests during at least part of 2027.
That puts nearly one-third of Disney World's hotel options on our “alteration notice.” That doesn't mean every guest should cancel. But if you're staying at one of these resorts, we'd take another look at your dates before finalizing the trip.
10 Disney Hotels Deserve Extra Attention
The resorts we're watching are Disney's Pop Century Resort, Disney's Art of Animation Resort, Disney's All-Star Movies Resort, Disney's Animal Kingdom Lodge, Disney's Beach Club Resort, Disney's BoardWalk Inn, Disney's Coronado Springs Resort, Disney's Contemporary Resort, Disney's Grand Floridian Resort & Spa, and Disney's Port Orleans Resort – Riverside.
Some disruptions are relatively minor.
Others could remove one of the main reasons guests picked a hotel in the first place.
Pop Century and Art of Animation are perfect examples. The Disney Skyliner will close from January 24 through January 30, temporarily removing one of the biggest transportation advantages offered by those resorts.
Art of Animation also has room refurbishment work beginning in 2027.
Meanwhile, All-Star Movies will enter the year with guest-room refurbishment work scheduled through January. Jambo House at Animal Kingdom Lodge also has room work expected to continue through January.
For guests traveling later in the year, those two projects shouldn't be nearly as concerning.
Some Projects Last Much Longer
Other hotels require more consideration because their projects stretch across larger portions of 2027.
Beach Club is undergoing exterior maintenance through late 2027. Guests could encounter construction activity, affected views, and alternate walking routes.
At Port Orleans Riverside, guest-room renovations are expected to continue through August.
Coronado Springs has work scheduled around its Convention Center, El Centro Corridor, and surrounding areas through late September. Disney plans to perform that work overnight to reduce the effect on daily operations.
Then there's the Contemporary.
Refurbishments in select areas, including portions of the Main Tower and Bay Lake Tower, are scheduled through late 2027. Guests could see or hear construction and potentially encounter changes to their normal routes around the property.
One Closure Could Be Especially Important for Families
BoardWalk Inn deserves special attention from families planning resort days.
Luna Park Pool, Luna Park Crazy Play Area, and Leaping Horse Libations will close from January 11 through April for maintenance. Other pools will remain available, but losing the resort's feature pool could matter considerably to some guests.
Grand Floridian also has renovations in select areas continuing into early 2027.
None of these projects automatically ruins a vacation.
But Disney hotels can cost hundreds of dollars per night. If you're paying those prices, you should know whether the transportation, pool, atmosphere, views, or peaceful surroundings you expected will actually be available.
That's why nearly one in three Disney World hotel options deserves another look in 2027.
Changing resorts might not be necessary.
For some guests, however, changing one reservation could make a very expensive vacation considerably better.
