New Arrivals to Stream on Disney+ This April

There are lots of exciting new arrivals coming to Disney+ next month ranging from new Disney original series to a celebration of Earth Day with Disneynature and National Geographic. The new releases begin to drop on the streaming platform right at the start of the month on April 1, 2022, and will continue all month long. Here are the details of everything you can’t miss on Disney+ this April.

Disney’s Better Nate Than Ever

Releasing Friday, April 1, Disney’s Better Nate Than Ever is a new original comedy inspired by the award-winning novel by Tim Federle. The story follows Nate, played by Rueby Wood, as a teenager who aspires to one day taking the stage on Broadway. Unfortunately for the title character, his acting skills are not great and he has not even been able to get a role in a school play.

When Nate’s parents take a trip out of town, he and his friend Libby, played by Aria Brooks, head to New York City to see if he can make it. Everything changes after a run-in with an aunt he hasn’t seen in years (played by Lisa Kudrow) making for a truly adventurous coming-of-age story exclusive to Disney+.

Ice Age: Scrat Tales

Disney+ is now the home of the Ice Age franchise, and this all-new animated series of six shorts is sure to be a hit with fans. Each episode follows Scrat as he experiences fatherhood for the first time, with all of the excitement and mishaps that come with it. Alternating between emotional moments and a battle for Acorn, the shorts will pack everything fans love about Ice Age into a limited run-time.

Disneynature’s Polar Bear

Polar Bear, the latest release from Disneynature will arrive on the streaming platform on Earth Day, April 22, 2022. Focusing on a mother polar bear as she experiences the challenges and connections of motherhood, the film is sure to follow the trends set by other Disneynature films in offering a balance of education and emotional storytelling. The film is narrated by Academy Award nominee Catherine Keener and created by the team behind Disneynature’s Penguins (2019).

National Geographic’s Explorer: The Last Tepui

Also debuting on Earth Day, National Geographic’s The Last Tepui will take viewers on a journey with Alex Honnold and Mark Synnott an elite climbing team as they head into the Amazon to attempt a climb up a 1,000-ft. sheer cliff. The two hope to reach the tepui or the “island in the sky” atop the cliffs to help fulfill the life’s worth of renowned biologist and explorer Bruce Means, who works to discover new species.

National Geographic’s The Biggest Little Farm: The Return

Fans of The Biggest Little Farm will be thrilled to see a follow-up of the 2018 award-winning documentary arrive on Disney+ next month. Follow up with John and Molly Chester, who in the original doc left the lives they knew in LA to start over with a farm in Ventura County. The Biggest Little Farm: The Return will share deeper insights into the couple’s 10-year journey, with a special look at the animals and plant life that make the farm, and the couple’s connection to nature truly special. The film also debuts on Earth Day, April 22, 2022.

Walt Disney Animation Studios is offering an all-new behind the scenes look and interactive experience for viewers on Disney+ next month with Sketchbook beginning April 27, 2022. The new original series will focus on six Disney artists, as they share stories from the creation and art behind beloved Disney characters and take viewers on a journey to learn to draw them. Characters featured on the series will include Kuzco from Emperor’s New Groove (2000), Olaf from Frozen (2013), Genie from Aladdin (1992), Captain Hook from Peter Pan (1953), Mirabel from Encanto (2021), and young Simba from The Lion King (1994).
