In case you have not yet enjoyed lunch or dinner at Sanaa, this restaurant at Kidani Village in Animal Kingdom Lodge offers a variety of African-inspired options, along with the popular bread service that includes warm naan bread served with nine different accompaniments for you to try. The restaurant’s new menu items have been cooked up by Chef Sahib Bhatti, who found inspiration in his Tanzanian roots along with spices from the Indian subcontinent when creating the new entrees.

One of the restaurant’s new appetizers is the Lamb Kefta, available during both lunch and dinner. This item is a returning favorite from a previous menu, but Chef Sahib has included the added twist of traditional North-African spices like cumin and cayenne pepper to bring out the full flavor of the dish when it is paired with couscous salad and pear chutney.

For a new entree, Guests can try a variety of Potjie-inspired Slow Cooked Dishes that are simmered in a potjie, a traditional cast-iron pot dating back to the Dutch during the spice trade. Sanaa’s popular Butter Chicken that is on the menu will remain, and in addition to this fan-favorite entree, Chef Sahib has introduced a Pork Vindaloo that blends a house-made spice mixture with paprika, garlic, tomato, and vinegar, as well as a new Lentil Saal for a plant-based option. Another plant-based offering originally created during Cooking With Soul, the Sukuma Wiki, will remain on the menu for Guests to enjoy, with red kidney beans, savory spices, tomatoes, onions, and garam masala.

Additional main course items include the Zanzibari Vegetable Curry. Inspired by Zanzibar, this plant-based dish includes a unique flavoring of rice and seasonal vegetables cooked with cloves, cinnamon, and black pepper. Guests looking for seafood options will enjoy the  Samaki Wa Kupaka, which translates to “coated fish” and is likely not an item you would find at a restaurant at home. Kingklip is a type of fish commonly found along the coast of South Africa offering diners a moist, white fish marinated in a traditional mix of mango and turmeric with tamarind-infused coconut gravy.

Some of the new menu items are available only during dinner at Sanaa, including a new braised pork shank and an updated version of the restaurant’s classic grilled New York Strip. The steak is now paired with mukimo that is made with green peas, corn, and spinach, plus harvest vegetables and herb emulsion, and topped with a fig sauce.

The new additions to Sanaa all sound delicious, and we can’t wait to try them the next time we visit Disney’s Animal Kingdom Lodge! The new menu launches today, so be sure to add Sanaa to your list and book advanced dining reservations for your next Walt Disney World vacation.
