The veritable world’s fair that is Epcot’s World Showcase has long offered its visitors a taste of international travel, all while keeping their feet on the ground. While Epcot opened as EPCOT Center in 1982, it’s only in more recent years and especially in the wake of social media that the World Showcase has absolutely exploded with hundreds of options for the choosing. Many patrons come specifically for the food and drink, thanks to the year-round festivals as well as regular favorites available 365 days a year. Today, we’ll tell you some of our go-to eats around the World Showcase.
1. Mexico
If the throngs at Food & Wine Festival are any indication, the Mexico pavilion is a real crowd-pleaser. We’re putting the margaritas aside today, since the focus is on food; so what’s good? Choza de Margarita is a more recent addition that has quickly become a must-do. Their mango-studded guacamole is served with vegetarian chicharrones for a crispy twist! If only it was served with the rich and flavorful esquites (dressed corn) that the tacos and empanadas come with! For dessert, La Cantina de San Angel is steps away, and offers sweet little churro bites with caramel sauce.2. Norway
Norway is a more divisive dining destination, though its offerings are no less delicious for it! One of the most popular items here makes a great breakfast with hot coffee: School Bread. The custard-filled, coconut-topped spiced bun is available at Kringla Bakeri og Kafe (more recently, Midnattsol Bakeri). Compared to much American pastry, it is not particularly sweet, which is why the jury is often split on this option. If you’ve got enough buns, hon, the Rice Cream is rice pudding topped with a syrupy strawberry sauce topping and served cool. This selection used to only be available at Akershus, but is now available via quick service on the Kringla menu as well.
