PHOTOS: Disney Castle’s ‘Disney100’ Makeover Revealed

The Walt Disney Company will be celebrating its 100th Anniversary next year, and to honor the centennial, Disneyland Resort will dress Sleeping Beauty Castle to the nines.

According to Disney Parks Blog,

“At Disneyland park, Walt Disney’s original Sleeping Beauty Castle will be dressed in style for the anniversary. Celebrating wonder, the castle will be adorned with elegant platinum banners and bunting, accented by a magnificent cabochon featuring the three Good Fairies who illuminate it with their shimmering pixie dust. Two majestic water fountains will grace either side of the moat, while a beautiful wishing star will sparkle from the tower above.”

First announced at the 2022 D23 Expo by the Chairman of Disney Parks, Experiences, and Products, Josh D’Amaro, the worldwide celebration, “Disney 100 Years of Wonder,” will officially kick off on January 27, 2023, with Walt’s original Theme Park, Disneyland Park, standing as the heart of the celebration. Guests and Cast Members will be able to experience limited-time offerings and celebrations as the entire Park is decked out with new platinum-infused decor, special food and merchandise options, and new looks for Mickey Mouse, Minnie Mouse, and all their Pals.

Taking center stage, Sleeping Beauty Castle will also be the sight of a brand new nighttime spectacular, “Wondrous Journeys.”

Disney Parks describes the new experience as the following:

“Walt’s original magic kingdom will become a magnificent canvas with ‘Wondrous Journeys,’ a new nighttime spectacular that will ignite the wonder in all of us. It will feature nods to every Walt Disney Animation Studios film to date, taking us on a journey filled with artistry, music, storytelling and heart. It will continue to build upon the park’s state-of-the-art projection effects, turning Main Street, U.S.A., Sleeping Beauty Castle, the façade of ‘it’s a small world’ and the Rivers of America into an artist’s canvas that brings characters to life all around you. On select nights, ‘Wondrous Journeys’ will go even bigger with the addition of sparkling fireworks in the sky above Disneyland. This spectacular will also feature an incredible new song, ‘It’s Wondrous.'”

It should be mentioned that there is a load of special magic set to be released elsewhere at the Disneyland Resort, including a new World of Color spectacular at Disney California Adventure Park, the reopening of Mickey’s Toontown, and the return of the parade, “Magic Happens.”
