Rachel Zegler Cast as Lead in New Film Post ‘Snow White’

Rachel Zegler is moving forward in her career with a new, exciting project. Just over a month after the mixed reception of Snow White (2025), which grossed over $200 million at the box office, Zegler has already landed a leading role in another film.

Zegler’s performance as Snow White was met with significant online backlash, with some criticism stemming from comments she made years before filming. From describing the original Disney prince as a character who “literally stalks” Snow White to promising a more independent and feminist take on the iconic princess, Zegler’s interpretation of the character sparked harassment and death threats online. In addition, political statements Zegler made against former President Donald Trump and her advocacy for a free Palestine also drew significant backlash.

Despite this, Zegler’s career continues to thrive. As some critics and viewers predicted that the box office performance of Snow White would mark the end of her career, the young star is showing no signs of slowing down. According to Variety, Zegler has been cast alongside Marisa Tomei in the upcoming film She Gets It From Me. Directed by Julia von Heinz, this film tells the true story of a woman named Nicky (played by Zegler) who, after her engagement celebration, embarks on a search for her estranged birth mother, Charlotte (played by Tomei), a “pill-popping, ex-punk rocker.”

The film’s synopsis reads: “YouTube is packed with tearful family reunions, but nobody films the messy aftermath.”

One of the film’s producers, Jen Dana, praised the West Side Story (2021) star, saying, “Rachel always brings a brilliant depth and humanity to her roles, and we are so excited for her to continue to showcase her versatility and humor as an actress.”

As news of Zegler’s new role broke, fans flooded X (formerly known as Twitter) to express their excitement and show support. @ammacrellinn wrote:

Isn’t Rachel the one who would never get work in Hollywood again?

“My girl will never know unemployment,” said @cloves_gf.

Not only is Zegler starring in this upcoming film, but she’s also preparing for her West End debut in “Evita” after a successful Broadway debut in “Romeo + Juliet” last year. Her rapid career progression proves that despite the backlash, she’s continuing to thrive in Hollywood and beyond.

  1. Disney has a death wish. I would not watch any of her movies or anything else she is in. I hope whatever she is in it flops.
