Reminder: Disney World Special Event Tickets Now on Sale

This year, Disney’s Typhoon Lagoon Water Park will reopen to guests on May 1, marking its return just as Disney’s Blizzard Beach winds down its limited-time 30th anniversary celebration.

“Just imagine a high-energy DJ spinning some toe-tapping tunes on the deck near the Polar Pub,” Disney Parks Blog shared. “And fun interactions with Mickey and Minnie decked out in their winter attire. There’s even going to be snowman bowling and character-themed tubes for floating down Cross Country Creek.”

Blizzard Beach’s anniversary offerings began on April 1 and are scheduled to run through April 30. Once the celebration wraps, the focus shifts to Typhoon Lagoon, which will be home once again to a popular summer event.

The Disney Water Parks Instagram account posted the following message to announce the return of the event: “Let’s glow! Disney H2O Glow After Hours is returning with fun for the whole family on select nights this summer. Stay tuned for more splashing details.”

H2O Glow After Hours is a separately ticketed nighttime event at Typhoon Lagoon, giving guests the chance to enjoy a more relaxed experience under the stars. For three hours, attendees can experience shorter wait times on attractions like the Typhoon Lagoon Surf Pool and Castaway Creek, enjoy character greetings, groove to live DJ music, and snack on complimentary ice cream novelties, popcorn, and select beverages.

Although Disney didn’t release an exact start date immediately, it was later confirmed that H2O Glow After Hours will run on select nights from May 23 through September 13. Early ticket sales began April 1, followed by general sales opening today on April 4.

Since Walt Disney World began alternating its water park operations following the pandemic, Typhoon Lagoon has typically served guests during the warmer months, while Blizzard Beach has taken on winter operations. But in a shift this year, both water parks—as well as the rest of the resort’s offerings—will be open at the same time starting May 21.

Walt Disney World continues to evolve, with each park undergoing updates that are shaping the future of the resort. With Magic Kingdom, EPCOT, Disney’s Hollywood Studios, Disney’s Animal Kingdom, Disney Springs, and two water parks, the resort remains one of the most popular vacation destinations in the world.

But 2025 is also expected to bring considerable transformation. Several new projects are already underway, including plans to bring Monstropolis to Grand Avenue at Disney’s Hollywood Studios, as well as the addition of Encanto and Indiana Jones experiences at Disney’s Animal Kingdom. Over at Magic Kingdom, new areas inspired by Cars and Disney Villains are also in development.

While some visitors are choosing to wait for these new additions to open, others are continuing to enjoy the wide array of current experiences—from thrilling attractions like Guardians of the Galaxy: Cosmic Rewind at EPCOT and Tiana’s Bayou Adventure at Magic Kingdom to the dining, shopping, and entertainment options at Disney Springs.

Whether you’re heading to the water parks for daytime relaxation or a glow-filled evening, Walt Disney World is offering plenty to explore this summer.

Thomas Hitchen

When he’s not thinking about the Magic Kingdom, Thomas is usually reading a book, becoming desperately obsessed with fictional characters, or baking something delicious (his favorite is chocolate cake -- to bake and to eat). He's a dreamer and grew up on Mulan saving the world, Jim Hawkins soaring through the stars, and Padmé Amidala fighting a Nexu. At the Parks, he loves to ride Everest, stroll down Main Street with an overstuffed pin lanyard around his neck, and eat as many Mickey-shaped ice creams as possible. His favorite character is Han Solo (yes, he did shoot first), and his favorite TV show is Buffy the Vampire Slayer except when it's One Tree Hill. He loves sandy beach walks, forest hikes, and foodie days out in the Big City. Thomas lives in England, UK, with his fiancée, baby, and their dog, a Border Collie called Luna.
