The Orlando International Airport just shared some exciting news for families and “single riders!” We’re always interested in learning new ways to shorten our time in line while visiting theme parks at the Walt Disney World Resort, and now we are excited to share the news that a program to shorten security wait times is coming to the airport.
The new program is called Reservation Lane powered by Clear. By opting in and using the app in advance of your travels at the Orlando International Airport, travelers can reserve a time slot for them to go through security checkpoints. Once they have their reservation slot booked, they can plan their arrival at the airport to show up at that time. Then, they will be able to scan their reservations and go through an exclusive and much shorter line on their way to their gates.
The new Reservation Lane program is currently in its “pilot” phase. At this time, it is a free option, available to all travelers that prefer to plan ahead and reserve their spot (similar to a virtual queue for a Walt Disney World attraction) prior to their flights. The service is available at both security checkpoints for all departing flights and for all travelers arriving at the Orlando International Airport.
We think this system could be a gamechanger for making traveling home after your Walt Disney World vacation even easier! It seems like it will be especially useful for solo travelers, who often have to wait behind large parties for everyone to go through security, and families with young children (a popular demographic for the Orlando International Airport) as a shortened wait is always easier with little ones.
