The greatest album of Disney song covers possibly of all time has been released, and it goes HARD!
Peyton Parrish has become known for what is best described as “Viking Metal,” a throaty, post-grunge heavy metal style of rock inspired by his Norse Warrior roots, releasing now-famous covers of Viking songs such as “My Mother Told Me,” “Valhalla Calling,” and “Fall Into Me.” But over the past year, he has taken his style of rock n roll to the realm of Disney.

Titled “The Most Magical Album on Earth,” Parrish has taken some of our favorite Disney movie songs to intense levels of Rock, delivering some of the best interpretations this reporter has ever heard from Pocahontas to Pirates of the Caribbean.Â
Many readers have probably already seen his viral music videos of him performing “I'll Make a Man Out of You” from Mulan, “Go the Distance” from Hercules, and “Son of Man” from Tarzan. There are 15 covers on the album, and some songs are admittedly better than others. This reporter personally recommends Parrish's version of “Hoist the Colours” from Pirates of the Caribbean: At World's End, “A Whole New World” from Aladdin, which he sings with KAYLA KING, and “Let it Go” from Frozen (yes, seriously). “Be Prepared” from The Lion King, however, falls short of expectations, and this reporter does not personally recognize remake products like “Speechless” and “Loyal, Brave, and True.”

Disney is not Disney without its songs, and writers like the Sherman Brothers, Alan Menken and Howard Ashman, Tim Rice and Elton John, Steven Schwartz, Michael Bolton, Phil Collins, and Robert Lopez and Kristen Anderson-Lopez have produced anthems that last generations. While attempts have been made through pop-star recordings, Broadway interpretations, and cinematic remakes–with PC-police corrections, of course–nothing will ever beat them in their original form. But, sometimes, the stars align, and covers of true quality and passion can be created. This album is one of those times.
This reporter recommends every Disney Fanatic add this to their Disney Workout Playlist immediately.
