Ryan Reynolds is no stranger to superhero stardom. His portrayal of Deadpool has become legendary, but the actor’s future in the Marvel universe now seems uncertain. Following the blockbuster success of Deadpool & Wolverine, which grossed over $1 billion globally, Reynolds hinted that his time as the Merc with a Mouth might be coming to an end.
“I have no idea if I’ll ever wear that Deadpool suit again,” Reynolds told Collider in August. “I hope I do — but I don’t know.” This statement has left fans questioning whether Marvel Studios plans to continue Deadpool’s story with Reynolds at the helm or take the franchise in a new direction.

While the Deadpool franchise’s fate remains unclear, Reynolds has already set his sights on other superhero-related ventures. Per Variety, Paramount Animation has announced a reboot of the cult classic Mighty Mouse, with Reynolds’ production company, Maximum Effort, at the helm. Partnering with Free Guy writer Matt Lieberman, Reynolds is poised to breathe new life into the character, who debuted in 1942 and gained fame through cartoons and Saturday morning programming.
Surprisingly, Mighty Mouse isn’t the only rodent-themed project on Reynolds’ radar. Maximum Effort is also leading a reboot of Biker Mice From Mars, an animated series that captured the hearts of ’90s kids with its outlandish premise and memorable characters. These projects mark a significant shift in Reynolds’ career, showcasing his ability to transition from live-action blockbusters to animated storytelling.
