See the Latest Concept Art from the Transformation of EPCOT!

EPCOT is currently undergoing its largest transformation ever, and Disney just shared new concept art of features coming soon to this Walt Disney World theme park. The park’s transformation has broken up the former Future World, located at the front of the park, into three distinct neighborhoods: World Celebration, World Nature, and World Discovery, along with the originally named, World Showcase.

The latest concept art released by Disney focuses on the World Celebration neighborhood, which is now the area where Guests can see the Beacons of Magic take over Spaceship Earth, grab a soda from around the world at Club Cool, find EPCOT merchandise at the Creations Shop, and dine at the new Connections Cafe and Eatery.

In the newly released concept art shown above, we can see the stage for the new Festival Center. The Festival Center was part of the original plans for the revamp of EPCOT (as a replacement for its past location in the closed Wonders of Life Pavilion) and where it has not been brought up as of late, we can confirm that it is still in the works thanks to the latest concept art.

Additional new concept art reveals CommuniCore Hall and CommuniCore Plaza (taking its name and some inspiration from EPCOT’s original CommuniCore, which opened with the park on October 1, 1982, and closed permanently in January 1994.

In World Nature, the concept art above shows early designs for Journey of Water. This new attraction will be the first at a Disney park to feature characters and details from Moana (2016) and is set to be an interactive walk-through attraction that explores the importance of water and its role in the natural world.

Disney has also shared looks at the new EPCOT Gardens Area, which once complete will be located in CommuniCore Plaza (above and below.) For reference, this area will be behind Spaceship Earth heading towards World Showcase, roughly where the Fountain of Nations once stood.

We do not have too many details on this new area yet other than the concept art above, however, we do know that the theming here will have the ability to change seasonally based on holidays and EPCOT festivals and events.

Of course, this new concept art is only the beginning of updates coming very soon to EPCOT. The next piece of EPCOT’s transformation opens later this month with the opening of Guardians of the Galaxy: Cosmic Rewind, Walt Disney World’s newest family thrill ride, on May 27, 2022.
