Sheriff from Jersey Assists in Arrest While on Disney Vacation

Jim Gannon, Sheriff of Morris County, New Jersey, was in Orlando visiting The Most Magical Place On Earth with his family when the call of Duty caught up with him.

According to savejersey.com, Sheriff Gannon was in Orlando International Airport (MCO) with his daughter and grandchildren when an unruly passenger was causing a disturbing scene in the United Airlines Terminal. An amateur video was shared by local Orlando station News 6. A large man, reportedly drunk, can be seen banging on a jetway door after reportedly attacking his wife and an airline employee. Sheriff Gannon was the first to arrive on the scene with a local airport police officer. He can be identified as the man in a green shirt and black mask.

It should be noted that Sheriff Gannon did not make his identity known publically, save to the local authorities, and he was identified for his good samaritan by a savejersey.com reader.

“With all the unfair media coverage of law enforcement, Jim is proof that a police officer is never off duty,” said Chris Russell, Gannon’s campaign consultant when asked for comment. “On vacation to Disney with his grandkids, Jim could have stayed in his seat, but instead he jumped in to subdue a violent individual and help local officers. I’m proud to work for him and New Jersey should be proud he’s one of our own.”

Gannon has served as Morris County Sheriff since 2016. It is unclear whether he and his family were catching their flight home or if they were about to catch a ride to Disney World.
