Unexpected chaos unfolded across Six Flags Mexico this month after a storm descended on the Latin American theme park. Guests were seen taking shelter in gift shops, while water cascaded past construction walls, around roller coasters, and through outdoor dining areas.
On September 8, La Jornada Mexico shared videos from the scene on Instagram. In the footage, guests could be seen scrambling to find shelter as water quickly flooded parts of the park. The storm was accompanied by hail, creating a harrowing situation for both visitors and employees.

“After the strong storm with hail in #CDMX, visitors to #SixFlagsMéxico caught on video how several areas of the park were drowned,” the newspaper captioned the video.

Six Flags Mexico didn’t issue a public statement regarding the incident. However, it appears that the park didn’t suffer any lasting damage from the storm. The video coverage from the storm brought back memories of a viral incident in 2024 when guests were left hanging mid-air on a swing-style ride during a rainstorm.

Six Flags Mexico is the most-visited theme park in Latin America, having opened in 1982 as Reino Aventura (Adventure Kingdom). It was famously home to the orca Keiko, who starred in Free Willy (1993). The park was purchased by Premier Parks in 1999, which added several new attractions and rebranded it as Six Flags Mexico in 2000. Unlike many other Six Flags parks, Six Flags Mexico operates year-round, with limited hours after the annual Festival del Terror (Fright Fest) and Christmas in the Park events conclude.
Six Flags Mexico is currently constructing a new Vekoma Family Boomerang coaster, the Speedway Stunt Coaster, which will open in 2026. This will be the park’s 10th roller coaster and the newest since Wonder Woman debuted in 2018.
