Space 220 Officially Opens

The menu for the Space 220 restaurant in Walt Disney World Resort was just unveiled last week, and now Space 220 is officially open for business in EPCOT! According to Disney’s website, Guests can “dine among the stars at an all-new restaurant that’s out of this world” and get a nice dose of “stellar adventure” during their meal. Space 220 is part of the Mission: SPACE pavilion and features lots of intergalactic decor. It’s meant to represent “a celestial panorama from a space station”, and Disney Guests ride “a special space elevator” before viewing EPCOT from an astounding height of 220 miles!

Once Disney visitors have ascended, they can enjoy a variety of modern American cuisine, as well as lots of space-themed cocktails or some craft beers. Menu recommendations include the Blue Moon Cauliflower, Centauri Burger, Lemon Mousse, and Sticky Toffee Pudding Cake. We’re particularly interested in trying the Astro Deviled Eggs (free-range eggs deviled with maple-glazed bacon, scallions, pickled shallots, and cilantro), the Chicken on Waffles (fried chicken, smoked bacon and roasted corn waffles, spiced coleslaw, and a bourbon maple glaze), or the Baked Maccheroni (which includes candele pasta, sausage ragu, broccolini, sheep’s milk Ricotta, BĂ©chamel, and Pecorino cheeses)! The restaurant just opened an hour ago, with Disney Guests like Ashley Carter live-tweeting the event below, so now you can get started on the delicacies!

Mickey and Minnie attended the restaurant’s Grand Opening, accompanied by lots of streamers and festive fog. Now, we’ll be eager to hear how Space 220’s first visitors rate it for dining and ambience! So far, it looks like the menu offers plenty of options for everyone. An offering like the Galactic Lobster Globe should be exciting for any salad fans: it features Maine Lobster, quinoa, bulgur wheat, avocado, lettuce, mango, citrus dressing, and crispy wontons. For cocktails, Guests might want to try the Milky Way: with chilled espresso, spiced brown sugar syrup, caramel, cream, and actual Milky Way bits, it sounds like an autumnal dream!

Have you been waiting for this restaurant’s opening? Are you excited for the next restaurant opening that coincides with Disney World’s 50th anniversary?
