More live entertainment is returning to the Disneyland Resort in the new year and we can’t wait! Live entertainment is a staple of any Disneyland Resort experience, and since the parks’ closures at the onset of the COVID-19 pandemic in 2020, we have seen a slow return to live performances around Disney parks on both coasts.
This holiday season boasts the most live entertainment at the Disneyland Resort since the months prior to the pandemic, with lots of new and returning acts setting up showtimes around the resort. Disneyland Park has already seen the return of favorite holiday events like A Christmas Fantasy Parade and the Believe…In Holiday Magic fireworks display.
Over at Disney California Adventure, Guests have been celebrating the return of Disney ¡Viva Navidad! and Mickey’s Happy Holidays, and for a few weeks now families with little ones have been back singing and dancing at the Disney Junior Dance Party.
Today we are excited to share that in addition to “Celebrate Gospel!” another popular live performance will be returning to the Disneyland Resort in early 2022. Tale of the Lion King is now set to return to the resort early next year in a new location– If you are visiting Disneyland in 2022, you will now find the show performed at the Fantasyland Theater.
Tale of the Lion King will return in the spring, bringing back one of our favorite creative reinterpretations of the classic story of Disney’s “The Lion King.” The show was extremely popular among Guests when it debuted in 2019 at Disney California Adventure, though its performances were short lived as the parks closed at the beginning of 2020.
The show features the Storytellers of the Pride Lands who share Simba’s journey with live music and talented dancers. We are thrilled that this show will be returning to the park in 2022, and recommend checking Disneyland’s official website for times if you are visiting in spring 2022.
