For guests who want to enjoy different food and drink options, in addition to really fun rides, EPCOT is the best theme park to visit. In the World Discovery section sits one of EPCOT’s most iconic and popular rides — Test Track. Test Track allows guests to design a virtual concept car and then put it through several exciting tests. At the end of the attraction, the concept car takes guests on a thrilling ride on an outdoor track, reaching speeds of up to 65 miles per hour.
As with every other ride and attraction at Walt Disney World, sometimes things go wrong and breakdowns happen. Now, one woman is claiming that a breakdown caused her to sustain serious injuries. And she wants Disney to pay up.
An Orange County woman, identified in the lawsuit as Karen Imbrogno, claims that she was riding Test Track this past St. Patrick’s Day when it came to a sudden stop. She said that a Disney Cast Member then spoke over the attraction’s intercom system to say that guests would be evacuated. A cast member then came to help the people out of the car she was in and escort them to the exit.
Imbrogno alleges that, while she was following the cast member, she fell into a “three-foot dropoff”. Her lawsuit claims that she has suffered from “permanent injuries” because of the fall. However, she does not say what those injuries are.
A String of Lawsuits
This is not the first lawsuit that has been filed against Disney in recent months.
One woman — identified as Emma McGuinness — is also seeking damages from Disney due to injuries she suffered while riding the waterslide Humunga Kowabunga at Disney’s Typhoon Lagoon. The woman claims that she suffered serious internal injuries, saying the water entered her body with such force that it pushed her intestines through her abdominal wall. She alleges that Disney was negligent for not properly warning guests — especially female ones — of how dangerous the ride could be.
In another lawsuit, a father claims that his young son was injured while riding Peter Pan’s Flight in Fantasyland. Daniel Blanco that the ride came to a sudden stop while he and his son were on it. The sudden movement caused his son’s head to fly back and hit it on the back of the pirate ship they were on.
Both McGuinness and Blanco are seeking more than $50,000 in damages. Disney has not commented on the lawsuits.
