Line Cutting Fight at EPCOT Leads to Injured Woman Seeking Validation

Disney World line jumpers are the absolute worst. Countless stories about poor and entitled guest behavior across the various theme parks have become all too common, and many people have lost their cool because of it. One recent Disney line fight got extra heated, causing an injured woman to seek validation for her actions.

Disney Line Fight

In the age of the internet, social media platforms like Reddit have become a space where users turn to share their experiences, seek advice, or simply vent their frustrations. Recently, one Reddit user took to the platform to recount a contentious encounter at a theme park, leaving readers divided on whether her reaction was justified.

The story unfolds at EPCOT in Walt Disney World. The Reddit user, a 31-year-old woman, was visiting with her family. Due to a knee injury, she was using a wheelchair, pushed by her husband, as they waited in line to experience the Guardians of the Galaxy: Cosmic Rewind ride.

The trouble began when a woman, who appeared to be in her early 50s, attempted to bypass the queue by squeezing in between the user’s wheelchair and a metal post, resulting in a collision that left her with a bumped ankle. The Reddit user and her husband quickly apologized for the accidental collision, but the situation escalated.

The line-cutter berated the couple, accusing them of not paying attention. In a heated exchange, the Reddit user lost her temper, using a derogatory term to describe the woman. The subsequent encounter further along the queue added a layer of complexity to the story. The woman, who had initially claimed injury, now acted as if she were perfectly fine. However, she quickly shifted gears and acted injured again when locking eyes with the family. This prompted the user’s husband and sister to mock her, further fueling the disagreement.

Edit: To clarify the actual physical interaction. There are two metal poles on each side of the entrance creating a chained queue. We were on the right side fairly close to the pole moving forward fairly slowly in an extremely crowded area. The lady came in from the right trying to jump between myself and my family to enter the queue by stepping on n putting her foot between my legs and the feet of the chair and her other foot between the metal post and the chair. We did what we could to stop immediately by grabbing the wheels and my husband pulling back but the space was very limited.

I (31F) was with my family at Epcot for the day, we had rented a wheel chair as I had hurt my knee. My husband (30M) was pushing me. We were getting ready to enter the Guardians of the Galaxy ride which was relatively narrow and had metal post and chain fence to guide the queue. While moving forward to enter a woman appearing roughly early 50s, tried to jump between us and one of the metal posts and we bumped her ankle. My husband and I both apologized and asked if she was ok, after a pregnant pause she grabbed her ankle and started screaming about her ankle and just shooting us the nastiest looks. Her entire family walked away from her at this point. I said, “maybe you shouldn’t try to jump in front of people?” She then looked at me in the chair scathingly and said “maybe you should pay attention” at this point I got rather heated as I feel she shouldn’t be trying to jump between people and queue posts anyway let alone in front of a moving wheel chair with momentum, I said “I should pay attention?? Maybe you shouldn’t be such a b**ch and jump in front of people.” At that point my husband just pushed me away and my family and I moved on in the queue. Further into the queue we wrapped around and reconnected with the lady who was standing totally normal. She locked eyes with my sister (F37) and started rubbing her ankle again whimpering. So my husband and sister rather loudly started mocking her and she said we ruined her vacation and was never coming back to Epcot again

AITA? Redditors Weigh In

While some Redditors felt that using such language was unjustified and lowered the user’s moral high ground, others were more sympathetic, understanding the frustration of dealing with line-cutters, particularly in an environment as bustling as a Disney theme park. Many users agreed that both were to blame, using the “everyone sucks here” (ESH) response.

ESH

You guys are the reason I don’t want to go to Disney World.

Line jumpers are frustrating. People show up on social media to complain about it all the time. However, some comments reminded the user that a sense of decorum is still needed:

ESH She shouldn’t have jumped the line. That is one of the most entitled behaviors that people do in Disney and I can’t stand it.

However, I swear people use their strollers as battering rams in Disney as well. So I can see her point with you needing to pay attention. You don’t know how many people have almost ran over her toes that day.

A few people were on the side of the poster. They justified her actions by entirely blaming the woman for her actions, causing the escalation. However, this was not as common of a viewpoint.

NTA. She was skipping line, cutting between people in one party (probably trying to squeeze her entire group in), and purposefully tried to interfere with a wheelchair. She probably targeted you because she thought it would be easy to cut off someone who was disabled.

You apologized immediately and asked if she was okay. She was faking injury to try to guilt you into letting her cut and you called her on her crap.

Her family walking away says it all. She does this stuff regularly and they’re embarrassed.

As Reddit users weighed in on the situation, it became evident that opinions were not entirely on the original poster’s side. Some felt that the Reddit user had overreacted, while others sympathized with her, understanding the frustration of dealing with queue jumpers. The incident is just a growing list of reasons people are getting frustrated by guest behavior at Disney parks.
